Well due to my impending departure to the land of the rising sun ;D I had to get the kadett out and organised ready for Storage in "Hollywoods museum of Eclectic and weird Sh!te"
Think Mr Bo11ox tat collection but with less french fancies and more Pandas
Basically getting all the parts for the Kadett back in some sort of order so I know where to Start again
Hollywoods mate Matt is going to finish the welding on it for me while I`m away, so I basically covered all the bare metal in Etch primer for now.....
Anyway the last lot of pics for a while...... no particular order just Work in progress pics really....
Front inner wing needing a small repair:
A pillar primed, still needing a small section replacing from inside the engine bay
Worst side still to do:
I stripped out all the sound deadening and as the shell is so original, I decided to clean off the original seam sealer, it did its job but didnt look very nice.
The panels are so good that I wanted to repaint the inside properly and it seemed a shame to keep them covered up as well, the seam sealer would have looked awful so I stripped it out ;D
Sill repair and inner arch cleaned back for seam welding of the arch inners as per the DTV Sportpart build manual
Excuse the apparent mess but look at the floorpans..... all original metal, never even been patched or plated
Trial paint to see what the panels looked like in orange rather than the Factory applied "Light dusting of Black overspray
Definately decided to do the Interior metal work in Body colour now, and probably leave the carpets out as well to show it all off nicely ;D
Area under the Battery tray, will all be repaired, cleaned and smoothed, Battery is relocated to the Rear, I want a nice clean engine bay for once so no washer bottles, cables, horns, etc
Engine bays are for engines only and the header tanks will all be my own brand of custom Alloy of course ;D
Last shots taken outside.....
All cleaned out and column back in just to steer it
And finally some general lowness shots ;D
Really like this one for some reason ;D
Got mixed feelings really.......
I was in the mood today to Sack off the 3 remaining weeks work I have over here and crack on with the car, as I hate leaving it like this........ but 3 weeks would not get it finished and I would be rather poorer for it
So for once In my life I have done the sensible thing...... packed everything away, left someone else to finish the welding and leave it ready for Prep and Paint on my Return.....
I should with a bit of luck be in a much better position financially to finish it after Japan as well
Sad but neccasary if I am going to be ready to go out early March
Cheers
Dom
