So I've finally finished the Electric cut out install on the camaro heres some pics. i've place the switch where the boot release once was. I also stripped down the centre console so that the wiring is routed neatly under it and also under the carpet . I then drilled through the floor pan above the cutout and used a rubber grommet to cover it all up. Its a nice clean install and i've managed not to drill into any of my plastic incase i take it all out again. not the greatest quality , because they were taken on my phone , but heres a couple of vids s4.photobucket.com/albums/y149/craigthejones/?action=view¤t=MOV00016.flv s4.photobucket.com/albums/y149/craigthejones/?action=view¤t=MOV00014.flv i'll get you some good pics and video footage once i get my hands on a digital camera

Oh my! I was thinking about these recently! How easy did you find to install - do you have to make up your own piping for it? Do you think it makes a difference? I saw them on an SBC a while back and they seemed really good for terrorising people at the traffic lights...... ;D It'd be fun to have one on mine as it runs to a single system so I could have it in the middle, still have some silencing at the rear for cruising but not totally loose out on backpressure

does it leak? I used to know a few people who fitted the cable-pull type which were popular and they used to leak and sound a bit nasty when "closed" and tricky for an MOT pass. I've been eyeing some of these up for a while though...

The install was easy . all the parts needed come with the kit and requires only basic wiring skills . a welder and disc cutter would be good or you could just go to your local exhaust shop The cutouts do not leak at all at the moment but who knows long term My mate is a supplier of these kits and sells them for a cracking price so if your interested PM me. As far as power is concerned i don't think there is a huge difference but i'm putting it on the dyno to see what difference it makes, i know it really improves power on turbo'd engines where back pressure isn't as important

Nah, these wired ones leaked from day one. Cheap cast iron junk from JC Whitney.
LMK how much these come out at as I know how much the ones I've been eyeing in Hot Rod cost...

basically its a Y-pipe with a valve in it. valve closed the exaust gasses go one way, valve open they go the other. Mount it at the end of the exhaust manifold and you can by pass the exhaust system.
The early oners had little more than a flap on a piece of wire you yanked to open/close it but electricly operated ones have been out for a few years.

You can benifit from some power gains although sometimes it is just a case of the power band changing. the noise however is AMAZING you don't get the benifit of the true sound on those videos
I know for sure my mate will give you a superb deal by for a group purchase.
If you guys are interested let me know. Just to make it clear for the mods i in no way profit from these and this post is not being used as advertisment
cheers guys
