After doing 400 miles in the worst driving conditions I've experienced for a while, I'm nearly impressed by how filthy my car was this weekend! Was caked in icy mud, arches were solid with ice, the roadsalt had come in from the open window and left a big trail down the door card and to top it off, I realised the front left tyre was bald (hence the lack of control in the snow) my tracking was out, the backbox mount detached (I forgot to bolt it back on!) from the body on a ridiculously slippery/busy M40 on the way home. Backbox bungee cord'ed back on and spare tyre swapped and all was fine, sort of.

As a person living in the Rust Belt, I can feel your pain. Are those Lotus Europa wheels, David? They look spot on!

Ha! I welded in a new rear arch on Sunday - rust was coming through on Wednesday. I didn't seal it well enough, road salt is very corrosive, I'm a little bit miffed.

I tend to wash my cars around once a year. They never get any dirtier than if I wash them weekly. I learn many years ago that you can spend hours getting paintwork spotless but the time you've driven even a short while it looks the same as before you started ! Must mark the 2014 calendar as reminder because gave them the yearly pressure wash them the other day ;D

This is the state of my work van the other day, just before my work mates wrote obscenities on it... And the current state of my daily, just before the snow fell

Pffft. Amateurs. My old Calibra after a week on site... My Vectra after another week on site... And this one isn't really dirty, but still. My 500SEL after an undisclosed period under a tree... Chris

Not recent, but back in 2006 I'd just had my mk1 painted and the club organised a skid pan day. So after doing a bit of this all day The car was a bit grubby. It was a nightmare to get the water, concrete dust, rubber, oil mix off.

And after a beauty of a dust storm and a few drops of rain the car was a bit of a mess. Along with the house and anything else that was left outside that night.

The temperature started to rise on mine, steady 70mph, so I stopped and found 20-30mm of ice covering the whole of the front of the car! Popped a bit off the grill and carried on, hence it being the only clear bit
