Owner of said vehicle is a user on www.minifinity.com under the cunning user name of v8mini. He's got it MoT's and on the road but the last thing I remember seeing is that he was having handling issues. Top job though. |

Don't get one. They hurt!! Ok, hydrolastic ones aren't so bad (a 1967 Cooper is one of the best cars I've ever had the pleasure of driving) but can't get on with zero suspension!
Just thought I'd add some balance! :-)

Well it's a fuel injected Rover V8, more than that I can't tell! I vaguely recall it being a 3.5 which would make it the same displacement, at least....not sure what it was out of tho  |

Hydrolastic was 1964 to 1967 - I think they went back to rubber on cost grounds. You still get a bit of Mini bounce but much less than rubber.
Dr Alex Moulton who designed both suspension systems did develop a smooth-a-ride system for the rubber suspended Minis but I've not experienced one with this fitted.

Think the Hydrolastic was used from late '64 up until the introduction of the Mk3 Mini (wind-up windows, internal hinges etc etc) in 1969.....and with their usual baffling BLMC logic, the Cooper S stayed Hydrolastic until it went out of production in 1971. I've driven a few wet Minis and quite like them, especially if you have a couple of Cibies on the front.....the see-sawing lights up the sky like WW2 searchlights almost! |
