Rangie Classic on gasBody looks tidy, but that says nothing. Doesn't overheat, toys work, LPG works and has certificate, and not much rust on the tailgate. On gas will give similar economy and better power. Will be cheaper to insure come renewal And I reckon it will finish at arround £500 which when I sell the Octavia will give me £1000 extra for mortgage payments until I get some work. Would you chance an unseen LPG Auto V8 Rangie from Liverpool for £500, with a bit of Tax and Ticket left? I fancy something fun and different and cheap enough to give be back some of the cash the Octavia is worth. So, would you. Yes I know they aren't the most reliable, economical, environmentally friendly motors, but I fancy some instant gratification instead of gravy tomorrow.

They can rot quite badly underneath. But I have found that you can generally sell them on for what you paid for them. Ive fancied one for a while so Id go for it! Not that that helps! ;D

And he would have taken £600 "for cash" to end it early but I thought I would wait and see. I was going to try and snipe it for £500, but I'm bottling it now.

There will be others. Your plan seems sound enough to me though. Saying that, perhaps a bunch of petrol-heads aren't the best people to advise on sensible motoring purchases! ;D

They are the only people. Everyone else says "get something sensible until you can afford a toy".
Still, like you say, I'll have some large, shonky and running on Chipfat or BBQ gas soon enough. I want to shift the Octavia while it has a years ticket and isn't due another service yet. Cambelt not due for 20k miles. Service not due until April (annual) but only done 3.5k since last April. Aircon and windows work and I fitted an MP3 CD so I should get £1600 for it on a 2000 W

Jeezus, why the heck did you wuss out? £421 is insane cheapness. I got that much for an MoT-less non-runner. I'd have slapped my wang on the table right off if I'd been sat hunched over my computer furiously 'watching' that.

I got "that look". I know I should have blagged it. One side of me says "You stupid curse word it is stupidly cheap way to try LPG and a big 4x4". And the other half says "Lucky escape from a mortgage sized oney pit".
I really need to get a schrink to sort out my split personality. Take away the sensible side for a while and see if my life improves. And if it doesn't, will IGAF.

Looks ok in the pics but next time go and look at them in the metal as photos can be deceptive. But it was definatly worth it just for spares and there will be others.Be ware of lpg systems as every range rover i looked at with lpg had some kind of problem and i've heard a few horror stories. ;D

Oh I know they can be horrors. But a mate (also from liverpool is a LPG Rangie nut) I asked him on another forum if he knew the car (long shot but he might have seen it arround, sold it in the past, or gone to look at it previously on a different sale). He said he knew the bloke to nod to, and where it was. Apparently the owner was a Rangie nut, and coming from a bit of traveller area of scouse land (although in his own words, not as bad as it used to be) ran it on LPG and was related to an installer.
Owner reckoned it ran OK, and said it had the certificate. I'm really kicking myself for not taking a chance.
What will happen now is, I will see another advertised, ignore it is an old bucket, and then pay over the odds and be miserable, as a reaction to missing that one. I just know it.
