Hi People. Right then due to me being bone idle this time of year and the V8 Project taking my time,I was wondering do any of you know a good engine speclist. Basically I want to give my B-Series a bit of a over haul, the head that i fitted last year is a bit over kill for the Cam, so that needs to be changed possibly for a Piper HR285, or better (if anyone know a better fast road or stage 2 cam let me know please). Also she need a new set of timing gears, as the ones fitted are about as good a a chocolate teapot. So if you know of anyone who can do that work in the midlands and who is reasonably priced let me know. P.S. Not Peter Burgess, I am still miffed at them for trying to make out my Stage 2 Big Bore was actually what they said it was, even though it turned out to be a fookin standard head!!!!

I know a decent garage @ bullwell. He's not a performance centre or a classic specialist or anything but he's into old cars.

No, Bullwell Autos. Ask for Kelvin or Adam. Like I say, its a garage business not any form of "specialists" but they are a good bunch there and still take the time to deal with older cars properly.

Consider me shocked. Quite a few years since I used him, but always seemed straight and delivered the goods (on my Midget, and mates TR4 racer). If you are just wanting your parts fitting/building up, then Epperstone Bypass Garage are reliable/honest* (and ex-BL/Rover/etc). Couple of the blokes are in their 50's, so know the older stuff - in no way performance specialists though. *Did I mention my F-in-L works there?

hi-tech is good, used him to rolling road my old mini clubman 1100, with a few mods he got 59bhp out of it, annoyed a few golf gti's up to 3rd gear haha :OP not used him for engine work but can tune a car up for sure!
i know a guy in yorkshire thats a real head wizard! if you are happy to transport or post the head, he'll do a top job for a decent price, he's an older chap

I'm also very shocked to hear that of Pete Burgess. A mate from Ravenshead has all his engine mods done there for his race cars & has won his class in just about everything from sprinting a Starlet to circuit racing a TVR. Several People I know have used Russ Lyons at Ollerton & swear by him, but I havent had any personal experience of his work
