many thanks to Zep for his posting of the pics from Kumeu, especially as my old coupe is pictured there.
owned today by Chris Piaggi ,It started life as '39 Standard V8 coupe,by the time I got it in 1970 it had seen action as Dirt track car then returned to the road... with a full house '48 merc flattie.
Around 1976 I decided the chassis rust and damage from it's race days was a bit too rough and I picked up a '38 Ford V8 chassis which I spent hours rebuilding and lowering .I dropped the 39 body on to this ,then decided that I really needed a convertible..... .
I wacked the top off it with a hammer and cold chisel.I then decided I wanted a '32 Ford roadster and bought the first fibre body '32 in new Zealand. The coupe went through a few hands then Chris Got it and welded the remains of the roof back on,hence the chop top.I notice that after 30+ years it still hasn't any upholstery.
