No experience with Poly Vee belts!
BMW M52 engine with the power steering pump removed, a shorter belt was fitted.
But after only an hour running, it's chewed! For most of it's length, it's now a 4 groove belt instead of 6 groove.
Any ideas of what to look for? Could I just have been unlucky with the dusty old belt from the back of the spares shop?
The alternator pulley has a few tiny nicks in it's grooves, I'm unsure if these nicks could cut the along it's length, at least half the nicks aren't running across the missing belt section anyway!
Can't see anything obvious that could damage the belt, and it seemed fine will running, unsure when the damage was done, but the car has only driven for about 10 mins with bonnet down.
Thanks
