Before I bought it the guy who built it fitted a 2110cc stroker motor, the thing flew!! It wasn't a Super Beetle, was an Italian Import mish mash model

My 110. Knew i'd made a mistake the moment the cash changed hands. But at the time i needed the money. Hindsight is a wonderful thing ...... I knew every nut and bolt on it, I'd swapped out the manky Td for a lovely V8 (those days TDi's were mega expensive to get 2nd hand) I'd love to get it back.

My mk3 Granada, in white with RS bodykit and 15" cross-spoke alloys, it was only a 2 litre twinky but pulled well enough. The scrap man had it after I blew up most of the transmission and the mot was running out (and I had just bought a nice Sapphire). That was nearly ten years ago and I still miss that car.

My 1999 M3 Evo convertible, low mileage, perfect leather and as straight as any I've seen. Sold when my daughter was born 4 years ago after grief from the wife as the buggy didn't fit in the boot (told me I should have kept it as it drove away....). always made me smile that car,
89 saff in ivory white with brown bumpers, 2.1 pinto fitted and slammed. Sold it to a lad that moved up from a fiesta, first time it rained he put it backwards into a tree.
I could go on and on as looking back, there's only a couple I've been glad to see the back off.

This one: My old Holden Wagon, lack of time and a 400 mile round trip to work on it along with pending emigration forced its sale

The most stupid car-related deal I've ever done. When I was doing my undergraduate degree at Simon Fraser University, I lived a couple of miles away and would often take the bus to and from school. At one bus stop I could look down into the back yard of the house next to the bus stop where a 1968 Plymouth Barracuda sat. One day I left put a note through the owner's door. To my surprise he called me and offered the car for $100 which even if it was a total wreck was a screaming deal. I hurried down, looked over the car and bought it. It was a very nicely optioned car. B5 Blue with white bucket seat interior. 318 automatic and equipped with the handling package (uprated torsion bars, leaf springs and ARB) and front disc brakes. It had rusty sills and rear quarters, but since we don't do the MOT thing back home that didn't really matter, and repro panels are readily available. I got it running and drove it home. I could have given it a quick service and used it as a daily driver. I could have put it in the free ad paper and sold it for between $800 and $1000. Did I do either of these sensible things? No, I traded it to a mopar acquaintence for a 273 Commando engine for my 1968 Dart Ragtop. He scrapped the cuda, and I ended up selling the engine to another friend for about $300. EPIC FAIL!!!!

Not mine, but my brothers first E30. It was a really neat original 323i, the interior was spot on. It had the original 14" BBS alloys too. Its the silver one on the left in this pic of the family's group of BMW's. He sold it cheap cause he'd bought an E36 coupe. But it didn't have the same character the old E30 did. I wish I had of bought it actually, but didn't have the cash at the time, or the space...or the obliging wife He's since sold the E36 and bought another E30, but its a bit rough around the edges and he probably paid too much for it. Plus it seems to be possessed as every time something gets fixed on it, another thing breaks.

Well my had had a DB4 S5 that he sold for 1.5 Passats in 1974, I think that would be a regret (Passats were for his business)
Mine would most likely be the P6b, though my first race car a Cooper S would run it close it broke me with 3 motors and 4 boxes in 2 years and I still carry the scars

Contrary to popular opinion, I do have mechanical sympathy, I always feel sorry for the cars I drive.
