its not that much to be honest and make it a cheap to insre but usable quickish classic more than likely powered by a diesel so less fuel needed;)

wow! ![:o](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/shocked.png) tempting to just fix repairs n primer them and leave it looking ragged n battered to be honest not into painting it with a roller or sanding paint of ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

primer's porous, you need topcoat, just buy a can of paint and a can of lacquer from halfords. i get away with it cos mine's nato green, although i do have a mk2 coupe S that's just leaving the sprayshop atm, shiny !

or just any cheap paint like arden blue or flame red or something from halfords ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

pictureless update unfortuantly but I took the wing of today hoping for no rust because id heard how bad the inner wings can be and gues what? NO RUST! I've never heard of the inner wings being prone to rust? Arch liners and vw underseal seem to stop that. Anyway excellent little project this, i say spray the repairs back in the original colour, its a lovely/rare colour in the first place and you'll regret not doing it in the long run if you don't. Check your fuel filler neck though, they are prone to going. Also check out Febs practical classics if you havn't already, they have one of these in a super minis test and it comes out on top ;D

Inner wings should be fine like volkskid83 said. The battery tray, rear sections of the sills, rear arches, lower rear seat belt mounting areas and fuel tank filler neck are all prone to rust. It's likely that the drivers side footwell will be wet due to water leaking through from the battery tray. Get a pressure washer on the engine bay and underneath wheel arches etc to clean away dirt and mud so you can see what you are dealing with. If I were you, I'd fix the bodywork as best as you can rather than and worry about doing an engine conversion.

yeah ive got mk3 coupe recently best to go through all the brakes and check the hoses and brake lines and do all the general service stuff get it running and stopping mint then worry about the body and paint and of course philj lowering kit
