Last night the heater motor in my mk2 escort stopped working in catastropic style almost setting fire to the whole car :-O, What I'm looking for now is a safe way to demist the windscreen in not bothered too much what it looks like as long as it doesn't catch fire.

How about replacing the heater motor? They are available new. Give all the associated wiring a good check over and make sure it's all fused correctly, etc.

Bound to be some available on ebay from a a breaker? Its always best to fix it properly rather than lash something else up, but if parts are completely unavailable, then Car Builder Solutions will probably have something in their range you could adapt to fit neatly. www.cbsonline.co.uk/category/Heating__Air_con_and_Ventilation,b.html
