Some of you will know this was reincarnated to become the Kia Pride but the Mazda feels slightly less cheap and naff inside. The advantage is the mechanics are the same so no problem getting spares.
.... re-badged as a Mazdaspeed MX.5 but the original factory stickers are untouched underneath.
Only approx 20 of these left according to howmanyleft.
47525 miles, MOT'd until 10/08/13, currently sorned. The little thing is pretty solid so i've no reason to doubt the mileage.
I purchased Summer 2011 from an old fella with the car showing 35k miles. Had intended taking to Le Mans but circumstances conspired against me and went in something else. The plan was to give it a full Martini look (hence the orange valance). Did however make it to the Classic last year without a hitch. In fact this has been the most reliable car i've ever owned.
Changed the oil and filter at 40k miles and was informed the cambelt had been changed in 2010. It's only needed new rear brake drums, a battery and wiper blades in the 12,000 miles i've covered! Absolutely nothing wrong with it right now. The only advisory on the last MOT was emissions and mixture adjusted whilst at the garage for the pass.
The spec:
Full length factory electric sunroof with deflector so can stay open at motorway speeds without too much buffeting. Runners greased a couple of times to be on the safe side.
Aftermarket Pioneer radio/cassette with boot mounted CD changer and i've fitted FLi rear speakers in original mounts (so no huge holes in the parcel shelf for 6 x 9's!). Factory Clarion front speakers which aren't wholly terrible. Headunit has output to run a sub / separate amp for a lot more beef if required. I even have the original instruction manual and a spare headunit.
Sliding and reclining rear seat with 3 seatbelts and headrests.
Factory foglight grille which must be incredibly rare.
Passenger seat underseat storage box.
Heated rear window and rear wash/wipe all of which works although every other element of the heated window doesn't heat up.
No electric windows or central locking to go wrong.
Stuff i've changed:
30mm lowered springs and 13" steel wheels with 175/60's, standard are 12" steels with 165/70's. Car is a lot more planted.
Eunos / MX5 steering wheel (horn still works).
All original parts supplied.
Stereo as above, nothing fitted when I bought.
The paintwork isn't brilliant. The bonnet looks as though someones tried to sandpaper it and there's a couple of areas of lacquer lift which is showing shiny paint underneath. If I we're keeping i'd just paint it black. Same sandpaper effect to the front wing tops and scuttle. OS door also suffering the same effect a little but this might machine polish out and does look much better after a good polish. NS front wing has had a fairly poor repair, the filler is lumpy and part covered by the LM sticker. Front valance has taken it's fair share of hits over the years with some rust in the seams but easily repaired. Tailgate has taken a whack which has broken the paint but I think this might knock out. Couple of small surface rust outbreaks here and there. Underside is pretty good according to the MOT inspector. Wheels could do with a re-paint.
I don't really need to sell but 5 vehicles is a little excessive and seems a shame it not being used. Would make a great first project and only insurance group 5.
No idea what to price this at so hows about £495 ono.
Car located near Orpington, Kent so very easy access from M25 / London.
