Reluctant sale due to increased mileage, longer commute and more lengthy trips to visit family force sale. Very reliable, owned since November 2011 (124k miles) it’s only needed a drivers side outer CV joint (replaced 2 weeks ago) and a rear brake pipe at the last MOT. Previously owned by ‘960kg’ of the Volvo Owners Club forum.
The main attraction for me originally purchasing this particular car is that many of the T4 troublesome items replaced. Here’s a list of recently replaced and repaired parts:
New HD battery 05/12/2011
Outer CV Joint (Drivers) December 2012
Rear brake pipe replaced November 2012
Prior to my ownership:
Many engine sensors, mounts, rear brakes replaced in mid 2009 with receipts
2x rear tyres May 2011, still loads of tread
Radiator jubilee clip replaced!
FPR on Fuel Rail
Walbro GSS342 Pressure Fuel Pump (a common failing on ‘98 T4’s)
Large Fuel Filter by rear wheel
Condition:
Mechanically the car is pretty much perfect, drives solidly and smoothly. Actuator set at 17psi (standard is 14psi), with no adverse affects. It was like this when I bought it so hard to comment on the difference it makes but it certainly goes well enough. Certainly feels like a much bigger engine than a 1.9! It will have a basic oil and filter change before sale as this is now due. Bodywork wise there’s no rust on any of the panels and the paintwork is now bright and red following a machine polish last week. There are a couple of small dents in the roof but you’d be hard pressed to notice them unless you’re looking along the roof line. The only real thing that lets the external apperance down is the is some laquer peel to the passenger rear quarter and rear bumper. I have also fitted a facelift ‘eggcrate’ style grille.
Interior wise the leather is mostly in good condition, but does have some cracking to the drivers seat. The floor mats are admittedly dirty but other than that it’s pretty tidy and a comfy place to be. There’s also a fair amount of space for the size of car, especially with the seats folded flat.
The engine is smooth and quiet, uses no excessive fluids. Pulls very hard from 2500rpm upto 5500rpm, 3rd gear is impressively useful! You can pretty easily average 30mpg, upto 40mpg is possible on a long motorway run.
