Yesterday started bright and early for me. Off to collect tat! Now what shall we listen to?
I decided the Green Day was a little loud for 7am and the R&R too jumpy too. So REM it is then.
Cruising up the A1 in the Sun Tor to pick up Keefy (who was graciously helping me out for the day) and the trailer from a farm near his place.
*Don't go back to Rockville.......*
This joined right next to me at South Mimms. A friend of the forum?
*Fa,aa,aaallllll on meee,eeeee*
Hatfield Tunnel
*This one goes out to the one I love
This one goes out to the one.....*
Looks like its gonna be a nice day
Got the helper and the trailer picked up with no problems. £30 for the day for a pukka Brian James jobbie Then back down the A1 to our place to swap the van for my in-laws car (they've gone on holiday for two weeks and left us with it ) The Sun-Tor was fine with teh empty trailer but I think would have struggled with it laden!
Over to Marlow near High Wycombe. Spotted a gorgeous RS500 Cosworth when we were almost there and the local garage sells leaded fuel.
The car had been left out on the road for us to pick up. It started up pretty easily so I could drive it on the trailer and we were loaded and ready to go within about 10 minutes.
On teh way home we saw an MX5 or S200 or something with teh roof down. Thought about getting Keefy to drive the tow car while I sat in the Herald with the roof down doing some trailer cruising. ;D
Back home and there was a bit of juggery pokery to do to get the new parts car in front of the house involving getting the Oxford started and moved round, driving it while perched on a small stool.
Off the trailer she comes. I tried to get the roof down for this bit but it got stuck halfway
Had lunch and then took the trailer back up the A1. The biggest suprose of the day was yet to be revealed! The guy we hired the trailer from commented on the Sun-Tor in the morning and when we retuned told us abot some of his collection that was apparently dotted around the barns. a couple of Minis, two Riley elfs, Daimler SP250, Morris Oxford and he showed us his recently acquired Riley 4/68. He was clearly an English car horder!
Top day all in all. Many thansk to Keefy for his help (and some of the above photos. Just glad I hadn;t planned to do it this morning!
