My birthday is nearing, but what do I spend my birthday money on?
1. MOT and Tax for the Polo (so it can be driven to meets etc, though not by me).
2. A new wing and some paint.
The wing isn't too bad, but has a rather large dent in it, and the front panel is pretty rust.
What do I do?
Adam

I'd go for the wing and paint, purely from the point of view that if i get something on the road before i've done everything i want to it never gets done ;D No point in having tax and MOT running out if you wont be able to drive it yourself....

No, i'd go for the tax and mot. If the car's on the road your less likely to lose the enthusiasm to get it finished. There's no point having a car looking pretty but not being driven.

if it needs a new wing have a look at it. if a bit of poking, bashing, and a skim of plod can work instead that would save you the cash for when the time comes to tax it etc. I take it you are getting lessons paid for cos that can burn a fair amount of £s

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

I will be getting lessons paid for, but not for a year yet!
It's fairly depressing seeing the car sat outside and not able to go anywhere. I feel that if it was used I would be less likely to lose enthusiasm. My mum would probably use it for local trips, as the Impreza isn't very economical and only drinks the finest fuels (Tesco 99 or Optimax), whereas the polo will run for ever on whatever you put in it.

I'll be interesting in the wing, and does it have the snazzy black and red seats? If so I might have the rear bench off you at the same time Adam

i had rocco GTII front seats with genesis back seat but sold them so having to make do with the mk3 GT interior for a while. i might have the black/red seats somewhere that i rescued from a crushed coupe S, the front seats were bent double but the foam/fabric was good so worth a fiver for everything i could pull off. i'll have a hunt around and see if i can find it, watch this space later in the week. might know of a good black vinyl card set if you're going black/red throughout.

That would be very good! Thanks guz. Might have to make a trip up your way with my dads volvo, see how much stuff we can can in the back of it Edit: Its only the rear bench I need (I know its different to the saloon, but I can muck around with it , as I have some buckets to go in the front which are the same pattern. Tax and MOT for sure. Cars are meant to be driven, not to be sat around while thinking "Well it looks nice but it can't go anywhere"

Adam no problem, any saturday is good, discount for bulk and 86C from clubpolo is on the same site so just about anything can be sorted out.

Get it out n about on limited miles then shouldn't be too costy. 6 months tax n get ya mom to chip in if she's using it. tis true they don't like being sat about! also you may know but i believe you can do off road learning to drive before you are 17, i'd imagine a few lessons at 17 on road and a test and ya done, that speeds things up a little. see you ar the retro shows this year then

Oh dear, there has been another option given!
My parents have suggested getting me some driving lessons with a local company. Hmmm
