I know quite a few of my posts lately contain modern stuff, I don't try to make a habit of it or do it on purpose, I just try to post stuff I've not seen or at least stuff that inspires me. Retro is a state of mind right? Anyway this one should be old enough to even out the cosmic balance. An 1849 Concord Stagecoach You may remember the Hot Wheels version? The only text/info I could find is from a magazine clipping "Jack Keef of Downey, California, spent more than 7 years on this 1849 Concord Stagecoach. With help from J&J Chassis, Western Wheel and Theodore Robins Ford, he has combined an independent rear end, hand built chassis , 289 Ford engine and a C-4 automatic transmission to produce one of the wildest show cars around.... 'Stagefright'." I've also managed to gleen that it was built in 1976. Here is the "original art concept" from 1975: And finally the real thing: Or at least they look real? And finally a rather sad pic of it in a museum sitting on completely the wrong wheels and tyres

Bit sad to see you couldn't put passengers in the coach though, or do they sit behind the engine. That's a very fancy engine cover!

You could do that with the Raiders Coach that George Barris built A 1849 Stagecoach design was used with two 500-horsepower Pontiac engines. The coach is supplied with Vox musical instruments, including organ, guitars, drums, and loud speakers

There's a fair bit of room behind the engine. You can just make out a nice comfy looking bench seat in this picture: Anyway, looks like you can get two nice ladies on the front bench seat which is all you need really. It's not exactly meant to be a practical vehicle! I'm not really a huge fan of the Paul Revere one myself, but I do appreciate the idea and work behind it. And Mr Foureyes, i believe the term is "Show Rod"

A clearer version of the scan above; you could lose a hand in those...wheels. And look whats parked next to it in the Petersen museum basement; like a coupla book ends.

While this is a re-issue of the model kit I think it answers your question Also: They did several styles in that period it would seem. That's an ad from '67. Looks like they did some with coloured sections in the spokes, top left of the advert.
