chrome effect or super bright silver, what type is best???
i have some older rims i want to tart up & i want to make the rim edges look polished or chrome effect, as close as possible with paint anyhow! whats good, what works, what have you had good results with

Mini 998cc grp bonnet & boot, lightend shell, 6-point cage, soon to have a turbo on the 998 engine (t2 frm a r5gt) rs turbo intercooler, hoping to get 120ish bhp?

I've never had much joy with those chrome effect paints - it just looks like silver. Can't remember what brands I used now... Plasticote maybe...
Can you not get some polishing attachments for your drill and whack lacquer over it?

Most chrome effect paints don't stand up to being exposed to the elements. If you laquer over them they just go dull too.

You could try some grafitti paint. That comes in chrome and is actually pretty shiney and being meant for vandalism, stands up to quite a bit of abuse. Montanna is one brand to look out for. Alsa corp do some quite nifty looking chrome car paint but it aint cheap and has a tendancy to go dull afetr you laquer.

The Alsa stuff isn't meant to be lacquered is it? They also do a plastic based coating like powder coat but its like £6K for the rig to apply it with.. But its good stuff, so I hear. There was a guy doing a service to anyone who wanted stuff doing with it but his website has been down for ages. www.chromeapart.co.uk IIRC

even its a super bright silver, needs to be hard weraing really, its just to tart up the rim edges of my steel wheels so they look sort of chome/polished, i cant find anywhere near me that sells graffti paint tins, i'm going to be doing them this weekend so need a decent brand to go for, i mulled over the platicote type when i was in b&q is it really curse word & just like silver paint, i bought a cheapo chome paint about 6 yrs ago & it was the same a 5wheel silver haha :OP
