Anyone else clocking ITV4 at the moment? They're cranking out some ’60s and ’70s televisual classics at 6 pm every night - just as I get in the door. Which is nice. ;D
Mondays - Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased) (featuring Annette Andre - top ’60s eye candy) Tuesdays - The Persuaders Wednesdays - The Saint Thursdays - The Champions

Keep meaning to say - I've been watching the Inspector Morse repeats a lot recently. Serious retro-fest!! That MkII Jag sounds nice too...

Apparently... That Jag was pulled from a scrappy and given a quick blow over. In the original series it never even ran and when you see him pulling up places in it what you can't see is three members of the production team just out of camera pushing it...
Later on they got it running to use in action shots.
Again "apparently" it was a total bag of nails.
I wonder if it was properly restored before it was given away as a competition prize (in the Mail or Express or something wasn't it?)

Yep, I believe that Morse's Mk2 started off as a Daimler 250 too! I've got The Persuaders on DVD because Tony Curtis is a complete hero, and Roger Moore is a perfect match. The last one I watched had them zooming downhill in a Mk10 Jaguar with no brakes But I'm pretty sure they won in the end ;D

Yep, I believe that Morse's Mk2 started off as a Daimler 250 too! Ah, that's interesting. My mate used a Daimler V8 250 as his wedding car which the driver said was a Morse car. I argued the toss being a typical anorak (and actually preferring the Daimler - V8 Oooof!) so perhaps I was wrong after all!

Ah great. They have gone back the original 6pm lineup. It started like that, then went all wrong. I love watching Space1999 at weekend. No retro motors, but what child of the time didn't want to pilot an Eagle and shoot aliens with a stapler.

I've been watching that too....SWMBO reckon's I'm even more of an anorak than she first thought, because I can still draw an Eagle Transporter from memory, and I knew what a Comlock was......

Part of that quote reads exactly the same as a letter I had published in Practical Classics a while ago!
I have it on average authority that the Vauxhall fleet supplied about 6 cars to ITC for filming R&H as well as Department S and the like. I'm sure I've seen the R&H Victor used in an episode of Man in a Suitcase as well. The two white FDs turn up in several TV shows. I'm sure I've seen Jeff Randal driving a Victor with a green interior in one show as well.
What is odd is when you have a show where the good guys are in one white FD and the bad guys are driving another white FD. Whats the odds of that happening? LOL.
Odd continuity thought, in one episode of R&H Deceased we have a shot of the bad guys rolling up at their base in the Ventora and to open the automatic gates they push a button in the car - it was actually the cigarette lighter... LOL.
I had enquiries out about the Department S Ventora, I came acorss people who thought they knew where it had been but never where it was. It was last taxed in 1979 according to the DVLA computer online but yonks ago a mate of a mate ran it through the PNC and it showed a change of owner's address in 1989 or so. I'd also got someone who swore it had been seen parked up in a garage in the late 80s.
I suspect its smke and mirrors and that it met its death, unlammented like so many other FDs in the late 70s and early 80s.
