i think street machine looked into this a (good)few years back.possibly as an engine option for dmc. any one got a back issue? i think it was a go-er in theory but my memory isnt so hot. ill have 1.8 engine going spare shortly but itll need a rebuild and doenst come with the rwd parts.

Should be the sane block as the other Family II lumps.
So bosh it in with Manta mounts, sump and oil pickup.
Swap in a C20XE when you get bored too...

There was a Minor Van knocking about with one of these in wasn't there? The silvery grey one on wires?? Yeh, that was definately an 8v aswell, as RCM had some trouble about getting it wrong, and having to apologize oh cool.. i know that the 1600 1800 and 2000 blocks share the same block sort of and that they can be rwd'ed ok but the 1200 1300 and 1400 are a different bore spacing (and some of the 1600's) so that is why i am asking.. anyone got the specs on that minor van or any pic's etc... what i am thinking is that maybe the 1400 may not have anything cast on the block to take rwd style mounts.. no probs if they are just not drilled etc as that would be easy.. the engine is to go in a guys chevette and he want to keep the insurance low.. obviously later he can go 2l or xe/let etc.. so once all the mounts are done etc then it is mainly bolt on stuff.. ;D next question is: has anyone got a cheep 1400 engine or car fs?? maybe some tuning goodies?? oh and if anyone can look under the bonnet of an astra or whatever to confirm whether ther is casting for a mount that would be great.. i cant find any pics that show the block on the net that might help.. and wont be at the scrappy to look aroud for a few..... many thanks si
