As some / most of you are aware I am coming over to your wonderful country in February just in time for the Festival of Speed - oh dear, what a shame! So, I was wondering if you would like to meet up on either the 26th or 27th (not sure myself yet) for the Dunedin part of the Festival? www.dunedin-tourism.co.nz/sfos/street_race.html

I like long walks, especially when they're taken by people I don't like.

I'd love to..... of course depends on getting time off work and all to make the trip down, but this time round I plan on following the Festival of Speed as the last 2 years I have missed it due to work commitments. So... closer to the date, holler, and I'm sure at least 3 of us Kiwi's that post here (me, Kyteler, Bullitt) should be able to make it as we all live in the Sth Island!

Currently I'm living in Dunedin, by then Ill be in Christchurch.
My parents still live here so cant see any reason why I wouldnt be coming down for the weekend.
Seems like a good idea, let us know closer to the time.
As far as the festival of speed goes the Dunedin one is probably the worst of it. The track itself is not bad but all the safety regulations are that high that you can only really see the cars well in the Pits, theres too many 6ft high concrete walls everywhere else. Teretonga/Levels/Ruapuna are all better spectator venues

^^^ What he said. ;D Closer to the time, depending on my choice of vehicle I may very well make my way to Dunners for that section but I think Teretonga will be the better (not just because it's easier for me ) being that it's one of, if not the, fastest NZ circuit's and there's enourmous viewing potential. Something else to note is the South Island also has a larger population of retro/classic vehicles per head of population and generally you see them more often. ( I spent some years living in Auckland so I know first hand ).

I'm only available for the Dunedin events as we're travelling around different parts of the island during the other events.
The wife's only letting me go to one of the events, so I've had to choose Dunedin as that's the closest one to the sister-in-law (where we're staying for the last week we're in NZ)
I'll try and find out / decide which day we're going..........!

Well then I guess I WILL be going to the Dunedin one, can't very well NOT go, it would be rude. Might not be able to take the Skyline though, but we'll see.. who knows by then I might have the 220C I'm trying to weasle.

There should be at least 2 1600 as the guys LIVE in Dunedin and 1 FJ-powered 180B and me...of course OH! and a guy from CHCH in a 1200 Ute.
