I did the same a couple of months ago, but your effort is waaaay better then mine!  Car is long gone, as are my grandparents and all the other small details  Top picture is 1987, bottom is 2012 |

I'm determined to do something similar, i bought me a mk1 golf to restore a few years ago without any history but after putting a few pics on various vw forums i got sent a pic of it from 89ish  I'm determined to get it looking like that again so have fitted the 4 lamp grille and picked up a set of the same wheels it had back then  once i have it looking the same I'm going to try and go for a pic like yours. |
