*****welcome to retrorides and I'm sure a first post wont be a last
fuel costs!
lovely cars to be in, had a v70 2.5 manual for abit and she flew, was cumfy, plenty of toys and plenty of power to tow with aswell. got rid because it wasnt rwd and it cost a fortune to get round in. (no more economical than a 3.0 trooper towing)
as with most cars, if its got a good bit of service history and it looks cared for.

thanks for being so quick jordanisace
fuel costs are of concern, was out looking for a oil burner to run as daily steel horse and saw this its a good bit cheaper than the shed i went to look at i don't do lots of miles but like days out so mpg on a run counts,
but a toy seems in order because I'm in crisis haha
thanks

well i put on my thinking head did some sums, i would need to use this as a daily for nearly two years before being able to do any substantial modification.
this means I'm going to have to forget buying it,
back to looking for an oil burner estate with good allround mpg. and waiting for my project/weekend fun car another 6 to 8 months
thanks for the replies I'm off to cry in my cave

You will pay more money for an economical diesel estate than you will for a thirsty petrol barge in the same condition of whatever type.
You need to work out if you will do enough miles to make up the difference in fuel costs, especially as servicing costs and diesel are more expensive.
Getting an extra 10mpg may cost you more than its saves you in my experience unless you do lots of miles, also a cheap car can be thrown away if anything seriously expensive needs fixing while a more expensive purchase kind of obliges you to fix it.

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.
