Good find Charlie.. I also have the latest Jan 2007 issue of Nostalgic Hero magazine (they've changed their tag line - boo!) Out of curiousity, why Nostalgic Hero? Of all the J-mags I find it the least interesting. Maybe its just me?

I like Nostalgic Hero because of its prettiness. I like the design of the mag and the elegant photoshoots. It's like 70s Vogue for cars. The cars are OK but aren't customised so not that exciting.

Charlie Yeah the design is nice for sure,.. Not as many pictures as other mags though (and not speaking Japanese I'm all about the pictures )... Its kind for like Classic and Sports Car I guess,.. $500 isn't too bad, but then I guess you are adding shipping on that as well.. for personal imports it would be worth it I think.

I have found a service to collect the car from an individual in Japan $500, and prepare the paperwork and deliver to a shipper $500. Ish. So it can be done. Still expensive ish but for the right car it's doable: Charlie, I don't see how that $500 quote for in-Japan collection ( and transport to Nagoya? ) can be relied upon. What if you bought a car from Niigata or even Hokkaido. What about somewhere deep in Kyushu? $500 US is around 55,000 ~ 60,000 JPY at the moment depending on the rate you get. Say around £275 STG for the sake of argument. Does anyone seriously think you can get a car collected from a seller ANYWHERE in Japan and transported to Nagoya for that amount? I'd say it would have to be around the Nagoya area, or maybe just in the neighbouring prefectures to be anything like a realistic quote.......... I don't like the look of the customer testimonials at Japan Partner. Seems to me that there is very little reliable substance there. I'd be very careful of them if I were you. I'd urge you to be cautious of Yahoo auctions cars. Very difficult for you to get anyone to properly check and appraise a car before you agree to buy it, and there are some nasty ones out there ( just the same as anywhere else ). I'd recommend saving up a little more and buying from a reputable specialist. The JPY to STG exchange rate is the best it has been for many years, and this at least will help you get more for your money. No modified cars in Nostalgic Hero? You must be kidding! There's been hundreds if not thousands over the years, and show me another monthy or bi-monthly magazine that has regular features covering old Japanese race cars, driver and mechanic interviews and in-depth history. Nos Hero is certainly the best in that respect. Old Timer is interesting but fairly random, and shows too many bodge repair features alongside the good ones.

Oh no I wasn't saying it doesn't feature modified cars,... but if you arn't monthly buying it, you are better off with Enjoy Retro Car for the modified car fix I think. If you are after a monthly magazine then Nostalgic Hero is the only real option. I've not checked out Old Timer, always figured it was the Practical Classics of the J-magazine world?? The big question is,.. are you going to stick your cars up in readers rides??

That Mini van is superb! I think the styling of teh top pick up jars a bit. factory ish front and and all smoothed off rear. Needs at least a bumper putting back on there. Is that Hino rear engined then?
