Hi Folks Some may remember from a previous thread that i fancy having a play with SU carbies on my micra at some point this year, just for kicks and giggles. I've been offered a "Filter king Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator With Gauge" on another forum for £30 delivered- he bought it for his micra as he was changing the carbs, but it wasnt needed so has never been fitted. I don't really know much about them, can anyone tell me things I need to know before purchase? I would assume (assumption being the mother of all "mistakes") these things are universal, but just thought I'd ask first to make sure. Thanks for the help folks Dan

Not required unless you're having problems with fuel forcing past the needles, which you probably won't. I'd wait until you're running otherwise you could be creating more problems than it'd solve. Provided the needles, floats and general condition of the SUs are fine and you're using them with a low-pressure pump suited to carbs (as your original spec was, I think? then you should have no issues. These go on eBay for 20-30 quid all the time anyway so you're not missing out if you turn it down (mine was 18, gotta love mis-listings! )

Metal bowl and pressure guage makes it well worth £30. If you don't want it id buy it allday long.

not meant to run them with the guage in once set up are you? £30 seems about right, thats what we paid.

Ta very much for the input I've decided that even if it isn't necesarily required, I can set it to standard pressure and it'll look pretty good strapped to the bulkhead! So' I think I may well have it About the gauge thing yeah, I've always read they're for "setting up only" but I fancy giving it a try with it still attached, even if its just for shows! (not that the micra will ever make it to a show )

I've got one of those and all it ever did was curse word fuel everywhere. I was not impressed when it did it on a freshly built race car

The regulator - it has a neoprene type seal between the top and bottom halves, held together by screws. It would never seal. Don't know if I'd just got a duff one or not.
