Found these of one in Scotland...... Fitted with a Ford 302 V8 Gives me naughty thoughts, but I think standard in this case would be better. Do like the simplicity of the front end.

I am now not getting hold of the seller of the yellow one in my thread, not sure what has happened to him, hopefully he has not sold it already, but I am trying to buy the yellow one in my thread.

Its a P100 based on the MkIV Cortina with the earlier MkIII panelwork hung on it. There was a red one on ebay last year with a Cossie V6 in it that I bid on but narrowly lost. But this one has an even bigger ration of WANT!!! to it!

The early P100 was based on the Mk3 Cortina and used the Mk3 panels on the front end until 1977. Being an 'N' reg (1974/5)it would indicate that this is original with the correct front end on it

I'm pretty sure the P100 never made it to these shores until after mkIII production finished. Certainly the one I bid on was home made, the guy admitted it in the ad and it had the 4 light GXL grille. Thats another reason I think this green one is an import, nobody would BUILD one with the poverty spec single headlights! At least some Aussie market MkIII Tinas came with V8s from the factory though the only one I ever saw in the tin only had a 289, but I guess a SA model might also have a stock V8 too (though I doubt a Boss!) We in New Zealand got most of the same things the Australians got from Ford in that era, indeed many of the more oddball things sold here were Australian assembled. I have never seen or heard of a P100 either here or in Australia which is a shame as I rather like the look of them. Never seen a factory V8 Cortina either but we did get the 4.1 litre straight six as fitted to the contemporary Falcon. Maybe the alleged V8 Cortina was a South Africa only thing like the Capri based Perana. Any of our Australian members please feel free to stand up and correct me if I'm wrong? On a completely different note I recently saw a Triumph Herald ute. The owner told me it was originally an estate but it got crashed when almost new and the then owner had it repaired as a ute. It was a very well done conversion and looked like the ute Triumph should have built. Unfortunately I have no pictures to share.

Steve It's a SA import and a REAL mk3, the bakkie in SA used the 2door doors (longer), the UK version (Mk5) used the smaller 4 door doors, also it's a SWB, UK P100s were only ever available in LWB, 2 big giveaways it's real and not a converted Mk5, UK never got the Mk4 version either. No Aussie Mk3s came with a V8, in fact no cortina anywhere came with a V8, peranas did but that is not a factory job, Assuie cars had a straight 6, SA cars had the V6 essex as the biggest available engine

Steve No production ones came with a V8 even in Aus, I think Ford Australia did a few test cars and decided the straight 6 was the way forwards

The 289 V8 one I saw was in a certain Ford dealers workshop in Slough and had been recently imported from OZ. This would have been about Nov 1976 and the car was about a 72. It looked pretty stock to me, even down to a factory style fryingpan air filter. Apparently every mechanic in the place road tested it and it was only in for antifreeze! I was in and out of there a lot in those days cos I worked for Ford PIE in Slough.
