That last one looks the best of all those Merc pickups. Unless I'm much mistaken the font of the Mercedes 190 looks very similar to the Tata truck so has anyone done the obvious conversion of putting a Merc bonnet and grille on to the Tata? Totally agree. The B-Pillar switcheroo and rear glass is possibly the hardest thing to get right along with the body line to the rear in car to truck conversions. In this case it seems the grille and light slope compliments the B pillar and quarter window in it.

but has anybody else noticed a modern Micra recently? Seems to be so much bigger than the older ones. Getting off topic but bringing it back nicely - it is the same width as this !!! This works imho

Maybe you can give us a summary of the current 1/2 ton bakkies in SA with photos, Ford Nissan Fiat Anything else. Plus Bantams, Champs etc that were SA models.

That Bronze Mercedes Benz certainly got the B pillar, rear glass and side line just right.
And the Cosworth certainly wants to be built @llittlepixel

I like how they build a laaarge trunk lid on this here: Absolutely agree. And I was thinking of this to be an express conversion, too. Not going to comment on that shitröen curse de plague, ModusOperandi doesn´t allow me to.

Uhm, here in sunny south africa we got those Escorts like that out the factory, they were not conversions. they were our first generation ford bantam I had this creeping feeling when I was posting that these may in fact be factory! Well - Today I learned something new. They might be one of my new favorite things - best looking small pickup/Ute/brat thing I can think of. Later model Fiesta-based ones are pretty cool too!

Alrighty then, here we go VW caddy, based on the golf 1. very popular NISSAN 1400, probably the most popular pick up ever in RSA
Nissan np200 replaced nissan 1400 when production ended. based on the Dacia Logan
fiat strada, palio based corsa b utility This was replaced by the corsa c utility And must recently replaced by the agila based Chevy utility The bantam has already been discussed already, just need to mention the early bantams after the mk3 were also available rebadged as a Mazda rustler. the final version of the bantam was also available in Brazil, was called a ford courier. has the same front end but the rear is different. the South African version has short doors and quarter glass, while the Brazil version has longer doors and no glass. General motors has pulled out of South Africa, Ford has stopped producing 1/2 ton pick up's, leaving the np200 the only vehicle still in production, for now. there were some other bakkies available, like the 70's Toyota and the proton arena, but there are not worth mentioning.
