This is the one I mentioned a few times but not seen the mag for about 3 years... Finally...it was in my Capri project file (WTF: file!? how organised in them days!!!) Although its not as good as I remember but still different IMO. my tastes have changed dramatically, i'm so opinionated about these things now Still potential though Sure its 2001 and bad-boy bonnets are in as are those mirrors, and showey cages, but in 2001 I quite liked bits of this and nice idea fodder for my Fiesta Mk1. I like the filled in 'winkers', metalic paint, stance, interior, and frenchy handles etc. He was only 18 or summat and made a living from these kinda mods (modmod mods ;D ) so its v cool imo, I hope Performance Ford mag are ok with this scan sorry it really is/was a great mag! currently on 56 fuggin K, couple more gifs to follow.... not sure? Well he went on to build a very sexy red Mk2 2 door escort on reverse rimmed mondeo steelies in a style that has become the norm in a fast road stripped/rally stylee but with his own individual twists. He's called Dan Leech, anyone got any more pics of his work? I cant find the mk2 right now!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Front end is terrible which is a shame as the rear 3/4 shot makes it look pretty good standard or black light would have worked better though. I remember the red MK2 it was featured in Retro Cars a couple of years back.

I'm intrigued by the MkII, but the Mk4 doesn't excite me at all...and I say that with an open mind.

Does absolutely nothing for me at all I'm afraid.
these cars look best when the tweaks are very subtle and they are battered into the weeds over 15in (and no bigger) rimZ

I'd forgot about the term 'mod mods', I must use that more often There are elements of that I like- the handles are a pretty cool touch because i'm not a fan of de-handled cars as a rule, unless its a kustom or something. Agree the front end is a bit 'busy', respkt to the fella for doing this sort of thing for a living at 18 We need pics o this mk2, stat! Sounds cool!

Dan lives in kesgrave, on the outskirts of Ipswich.
Currently i believe he's running around in his series 1 escort rs turbo (due to be restored), and he has a split screen camper (now building a porsche engine for it). His old man also has a pale green split screen pick up type camper thing!
Worked for a rally prep company, hence the red mk2, and i believe he still has another mk2 shell that he has started to group 4 prep, not sure.

Nice work Mike, yeah I think thats it! there was another red one in CF I got mixed up with but that had black alloys and not quite as good. Remembering where I was at 18 with a bodged fillered up 1.3 ghia mk1 fiesta, aiming to paint black with custom grill, light covers, and load with gadgets, but crashed (repeatedly) instead! Anyway I smell a new thread with this..., so I think the lad did bloody well. influenced by his mates and scene but still doing his own thing. those white (clear) lights were everywhere in accessory shops in 2001 (pre lexarse phase) and I very nearly incorporated one into my fiesta, however that was cos it was gonna be crisp and white all over. I have noticed on the pics the front end looks better from high up not on low shot. and even though wheels are 17's they look ok IMO, but id go for 15's slammed with my current tastes. That mk2 was only two years later so he was bloody busy. have you any more pics mike/anyone?

To be honest it isn't beyond making something worthwhile, it's just let down by stupid stuff like the badboy bonnet, front bumper and the round mirrors. The wheels and stance look OK and the colour looks pretty decent too.
The rear third quarter shot would look top if it had normal back lights on it I think.

Not got anymore pics, i only remembered it because of the wheels, and my housemate in 2003 was (and still is) a ford nut (he's currently building a supercharged mk1 escort, i'll try and get him on here), and he bought that issue of Classic Ford.

sorry but the second I see a bad boy'd bonnet I loose interest What i don't get about badboy bonnets is how there is no variation at all on one curse word idea, even barry can usually change summit a little bit, but every one of those bonnets looks the same, same lack of imagination, same cruddy result.
