Induction kit should have all the bits in it you need to replace the airbox.

If it's the injected one it has an air filter box and another resonator box. If it's a 57i kit then, as popuptoaster says, it'll replace all of that and also have some plumbing for the idle control valve.
Somewhere in the depths of my photobucket account I have a pic of a fitted kit I think, I'll have a look.

Not as helpful as I'd hoped. Your airbox and the resonator box will be at the front RHS. The idle valve was aomewhere hear the left hand strut mount I think.

Different car and engine but the same principle, filter goes where the airbox would have been, proper kit will have a bracket to support the end of the hose and filter and any extra pipework required.

I'm not a fan of cone filters, most cars don't need them, the Cortina had one because there wasn't room for a stock airbox and it saved making one.
However they DO sound quite nice, although I have managed similar results just adding holes to a stock airbox. i had to open up the already fitted but blanked cold air feed in the airbox on my Volvo when i turned the boost up and it makes noticeably more noise.

aye, as Mr Toaster has said, not needed really, but they do make a good induction noise

Just chuck a nice K&N panel filter in the air box, most induction kits on standardish cars do very little.

how I did mine...by doin the thing you don't want to do haha If you're going to do it I'd follow Copey's approach. Personally I think it looks much better than mounting the filter straight to the throttle body, because you don't have to stuff the idle control valve somewhere. Just use a hack saw and carefully cut the pipe as close to the resonance chamber (the black box after the air filter).

Sierra - here we go again! He has an illness, it's not his fault.

really is the easiest option, like you say don't need to relocate the ICV or anythin, just a couple of mins with a hack saw, or, if youre as lazy as me, angle grinder haha

As above really. When I do mine, ill be chopping, and leaving the ICV in its proper position.Looks way better IMO.

This is how i did it on my old Granada, exactly the same layout. I extended the pipe with an off cut of black drainpipe and even used a downpipe bracket with a spacer screwed to the reverse of the radiator panel, didnt take long at all. The DOHC sound very nice with a cone filter too

The DOHC does sound good with a cone filter on it, I have to agree. I'm tempted to attack the airbox on my Audi with the spade drill bits over christmas to make it sound a bit more rorty now.
