Hi Guys
I`m sorry this is a wanted add but it is for a project,
Has anyone got a non working portable Roberts/Hacker radio or similar?
Must be cheap as its for an ipod conversion and i`ve never done any electronics before so it might not work lol
Cheers Adrian

You've picked two high end units that are desirable to radio enthusiasts and as such can demand high prices even when duff / faulty. Looking on eBay plenty to be found but be prepared to pay probably more than a purpose made iPod player and speakers. What about looking for something like a 1960/70's Bush or Phillips radio as they are likely to be a more reasonable price ?

The modern repro/retro Roberts radios seem to break, what about messing with one of those?

Hi Guys
I`ve got a question about what i`m planning to do, I`m thinking about using the amplifier and power supply from a pair of computer speakers but would like to use the original radio`s volume control could i just resolder the wires from the computer speakers volume control onto the radios volume control or are they different in some way??
Cheers Adrian

volume controls are only variable resistors, so if the volume pot is rated the same on each you can just swap the wires, if not just get the right pot and fit it to the radio.

Thanks for the reply sorry for being a dweeb but will the rating be on the pot somewhere?? (if so what is the rating likely to be?) Cheers Adrian

Hi Guys Just been for a quick drive to pick up my latest Ebay purchase, A 1959 Ferguson 621u Valve table top Radio which I won for a tenner, Its got a bakelite case which has been badly painted silver and the speaker grille has been badly painted black, I plan on painting the case baby blue and hopefully stripping the grille back to its original white and detailing the badge etc in original gold, Just got to carefully strip the chassis from the case to paint the case and clean all the original components on the chassis (which i`m going to leave in place in case I ever want to return it to original) Cheers Adrian

Hi Guys
I`ve stripped the Ferguson down so i can remove the remnants of old paint,
I`ve also removed the glass from the dial to clean it but the writing printed on to the back of the glass if very fragile,I only just touched a letter with my finger and it came away from the glass, So theres no way of cleaning the glass properly without destroying the writing,
Is there anyone on here that could make some new stickers/laser cut some replacements for me?? I could scan the writing on the glass as a template
Cheers Adrian
