I'm tempted to get a 328 touring (had one as a company car), there are some good threads on Pistonheads Readers Rides for 328 builds. This was mine; Felt better to drive than the E46 323Ci that replaced it.

Yes must say the past 6 months I've been looking at the cabbies. But bought a 728i on a good deal so will have to wait till next year. Did get offered exactly the same car as the one in the first photo. Apart from it had 19" Breytons on it tax and mot for £700.... I hate Xmas lol!!

Damn, thats a shame, the wheels would have brought £400 on their own!

In the past I had a '46 M3, which I swapped for an Evo and now my daily is a '36 328i. Only had it a week, and in love with it. Taking inspiration from the wagon above, soon it'll have the same sort of appeal Next mods are M3 bumper and a wheel refurb

I'm currently driving a 120,000 mile e36 318i, my wife is driving a 180,000 mile e30 325i Touring. The comparison does the e36 no favours. The earlier car feels much more solidly built despite having done half again as many miles as mine.

Had one a while back - e30's were built far far better, but the e36 is still a good car. I had issues with rear suspension arm bush - It's an awful joke of a designed bush which is aluminium on the outside, gets pushed into a steel arm, and whatever happens those two metals don't get along and it will eventually pop out again. Door panels. curse word. Never got mine to fit perfectly. Speedo. Had a very noisy speedo mechanism. Also, whenever in still traffic for a very long time it would overheat unless I put the heaters on. It was a popular fault on the 318i. Very comfortable and extremely quiet ride. Took me ages to find the battery, which sits in the boot.
Also, if you get a convertible and find a big pullable key in the boot, DON'T pull it - It releases the roof mechanism and apparently it's a pig to put back to normal.
