EXTERIOR
This exceptional Mercedes-Benz is finished in Signal Red, (colour code 568) and looks magnificent with a brilliant shine and deep gloss finish. All exterior panels are blemish free with no dings, scuffs or scratches. A tiny stone chip is visible on the bonnet. The unmistakable design of this classic Mercedes sports car is a real head turner. Structurally sound with no rust or corrosion. The black hood is clean, tight and free from rips or tears, as are the side and rear hood windows. The colour coded detachable hard top is simply stunning and a fantastic compliment to the car. A perfect example of beautiful design and remarkable engineering.
INTERIOR
Elegant wide-opening doors give convenient access to a genuine four seat coupe. The spacious interior is tastefully upholstered in Mercedes Cream Beige half leather with matching colour scheme carpets. The seats are in excellent order with no discolouration or wear to the leather. Deep pile carpeting throughout is in very good condition having been protected by original fit Mercedes-Benz over-mats, which themselves are now starting to show some minor signs of wear. The carpeting to the right of the accelerator pedal has worn. The Blaupunkt stereo fitted from new remains in the car and provides excellent clear sound through the original speakers. The wood veneer and internal chrome finishing is very well preserved and undamaged. All the gauges, controls and electrics operate perfectly. The original jack, tool kit and first aid kit are still present. A comfortable refined and ergonomically designed environment.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The six cylinder in-line engine with fuel injection, twin-overhead camshafts and transistorised ignition produces 188bhp and as a regularly main dealer maintained unit, will continue to offer extraordinary reliability. Gloriously smooth and powerful it is mated to the standard four-speed torque convertor transmission which is seamless in operation and is complimented by the Tempomat Cruise Control system as a factory fit option. The engine and gearbox in this example both perform impeccably having benefitted from full Mercedes Benz servicing throughout the cars lifetime. An altogether flawless and assuring drive.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The original light-alloy wheels are in excellent condition and free from damage. Shod in quality 205/65 R15 Michelin Pilot Exalto tyres which retain good tread all round. Dual-circuit braking system with automatic wheel-lock prevention (ABS) and discs to all four wheels. The front discs are internally ventilated and provide excellent stopping power. The parking brake has separate drums and shoes and holds the car firmly.
HISTORY FILE
This car has had one owner from new. Purchased on 14 March 1989 by Mr Anthony Darlow from Mercedes Dealer Eyebury Motors Ltd. The car has subsequently been fully maintained and serviced by Mercedes-Benz Main Dealers. A fully stamped service book helps to confirm the genuine low mileage of 94,079 miles. This vehicle will appeal to both a Mercedes Benz enthusiast wanting an incredibly well preserved showpiece or an individual wanting to enjoy convertible Mercedes fun from a truly legendary driving machine.
