If you can get your hands on an affordable 02 I would grab it with both hands. Their prices are rising all the time and bits are easy enough to source. I bought my first 02 in 1990 and it looked exactly like the one I have today. They make great daily drivers too! I did a quick run to Portsmouth and back this morning. 130 miles @ 75-80 and never missed a beat. The minilites went for about 275 and paid for the Revolutions. ![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cool.png) ![](http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb187/markbrown100/IMG_0548-2.jpg)

Found a boot on a steering linkage loose and had a open neck, cabled tied the offender. ![](http://i1063.photobucket.com/albums/t518/FossilFishy/IMG_20130201_201543_zpsbe365589.jpg) ![](http://i1063.photobucket.com/albums/t518/FossilFishy/IMG_20130202_013017_zps0cca8ef5.jpg) Also while inspecting the hoses found a split vac hose, MX5parts wanted £9 for it, no chance, so found some hose form the cubby with same internal diameter and found the right angle and hey presto ![](http://i1063.photobucket.com/albums/t518/FossilFishy/IMG_20130202_200232_zpscec27b23.jpg) ![](http://i1063.photobucket.com/albums/t518/FossilFishy/IMG_20130202_200243_zpsd77fba8f.jpg) ![](http://i1063.photobucket.com/albums/t518/FossilFishy/IMG_20130202_200859_zpsd4a21457.jpg) ![](http://i1063.photobucket.com/albums/t518/FossilFishy/IMG_20130202_204252_zpsca9ed439.jpg) I used some petrol to clean the stained alloys and they did the trick, this pic doesn't show how nice they are now look but trust me they look cleaner for sure, for those fire marshalls out there I had fire extinguisher to hand ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) ![](http://i1063.photobucket.com/albums/t518/FossilFishy/IMG_20130202_203441_zpsa4ef4698.jpg) located a few tears in the door surround and taped them for now but the drivers carpet has been damp for some time, the sound fluff or what ever it is was soggy and dripping black goo, got rid and found a soild floor ;D, so got some ends of some fire retardant insulation and picked at it until right thickness then filled it in. ![](http://i1063.photobucket.com/albums/t518/FossilFishy/IMG_20130217_173514_zps829bb885.jpg) ![](http://i1063.photobucket.com/albums/t518/FossilFishy/IMG_20130217_173527_zps82cff069.jpg) ![](http://i1063.photobucket.com/albums/t518/FossilFishy/IMG_20130217_173633_zps7434a677.jpg) Lastly the best job to date was to remove the rear import fog lamp as it was held in place by a cable tie and looks horrid anyway, relocated it in the right hand rear reverse light, I am just waiting for a red LED from china via snail mail and should not look pink like a bulb would. I was left with a hole and just filled it for now its very low down so will clean it a bit more before some touch up paint. ![](http://i1063.photobucket.com/albums/t518/FossilFishy/IMG_20130224_113444_zps4d3b9035.jpg)

Fank you vewi mooch ![:-*](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/kiss.png) these are going far too cheap, there was another thread here with a bloke with loads of skill he got a uk spec for £250 so cheap as chips, besides loving how it drives never had a car that's like being in a mini club, I have been flashed ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) by fellow drivers of MK1's and IMHO every man should drive a car with pop up lights

Hi all, for the last couple of weeks I have been flushing the coolant from the car. The radiator has been changed not long ago but it is a aftermarket unit. The fluid was rusty brown for the first three flushes and then slowly cleared. I have no temp issues but I change the radiator cap for a 0.9 bar QH one as the old one rubber rings had seen better days. I removed the radiator overflow tank and screen washer bottles and bleached it they were so gunky this is what I got out: ![](http://i1063.photobucket.com/albums/t518/FossilFishy/IMG_20130413_223218_zps34406139.jpg) I flushed the heater core both ways but heat is still mild however super hot with aircon button pressed ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) After another three flushes the water is clear and then I must confess, I have heard that vintage cars peeps dropped Vinegar as it is acidic, ![](http://i1063.photobucket.com/albums/t518/FossilFishy/IMG_20130411_160000_zpscf11adc9.jpg) I didn't want to go OTT so I just put 600ml in (normally around 6l capacity) I have been driving it for a few days now and have got some distilled rain water and a 3l of concentrated antifreeze from 99p shop for under £5 so will have a 50/50 mix. :)I was lucky to spot a free cabin brace bar on MX5OC and also got a free hood which was passed it but its hood clamps where fine and rubbers, so striped it, Thank you Matt (M477Y) from MX50C. Our car is a 1990 1.6 and the later 1.8 had extra bracing, the early 1600 didn't have captive nuts present for the cabin brace but did have holes in the right place, I thought I would have to do a bit of filing but my bolts fitted with ease, I did have to remove the trim and seat belt unit for access and trimmed off excess of the bolt and cut the trim to fit around. ![](http://i1063.photobucket.com/albums/t518/FossilFishy/IMG_20130414_020043_1_zps59a69e6b.jpg) ![](http://i1063.photobucket.com/albums/t518/FossilFishy/IMG_20130414_194021_zpsa35b14b5.jpg) ![](http://i1063.photobucket.com/albums/t518/FossilFishy/IMG_20130414_193957_zpsb216f861.jpg) ![](http://i1063.photobucket.com/albums/t518/FossilFishy/IMG_20130414_194004_zpsde284b4e.jpg) ![](http://i1063.photobucket.com/albums/t518/FossilFishy/IMG_20130414_194342_zps7b174788.jpg) I just need to spray the gold nut on top of seat belt tower as I am missing one cover. ![](http://i1063.photobucket.com/albums/t518/FossilFishy/IMG_20130414_204107_zps2b81a603.jpg) I didn't expect much difference but soon as I drove it was surprised how much less it rattles and the back end feel more solid, doing the ball joints has helped the front but will source front chassis brace and might leave the strut braces unless I get them cheap or even free!

Its a basic thing but thought I just post it here, after the ball joints and steering wheel change, I needed tracking so found a offer from national center that have a 50% off tracking, they had a proper set up and after struggling to get the car on their ramp it was done. Bruce and delroy at the Greenwich branch was top bananas and got it all for £15 (in keeping with the budget motoring for this whip) they never tried to up sell and just gave me some time under the car. The car seem nicer to drive with no steering corrections needed and seem a lot easier to dart through traffic. ![](http://i1063.photobucket.com/albums/t518/FossilFishy/428554e3-5c9e-4d38-add6-5f7410ca7cff_zpsb70632f8.jpg) ![](http://i1063.photobucket.com/albums/t518/FossilFishy/d6163786-a935-4ac4-bc13-0ac0b14c588c_zps254cb8a7.jpg)

Well its been a while since selling the Red 'G reg roadster, I bought a '94 V-spec in green and it could be just that car but it seemed sluggish LNC and was sold. I then found a '90 G reg SNC with Wantanbe Rs, Nardi steering wheel/knob, decat, headers, bracing, front and rear bottom lip and fogs for the sum of £350 was so much more responsive. The car was sat for a year and I just jump started it and drove back and forth to free the discs and break the rust from discs then drove it across London for a MOT and it passed first time. It is so much faster and great to be back fold. The car a few faults mainly the peel of paint on the bonnet, it is UC code and they seem to be very, very thin. I am on the look out for a white bonnet if not then it time for some sand 'n Spray. ![](http://i1063.photobucket.com/albums/t518/FossilFishy/_86_zpscrym8z4g.jpg) -This is how I found the car, since I have put on a e-type number plate, detailed the paint (Bar the bonnet) fixed the dent in OSF wing.

![](http://i1063.photobucket.com/albums/t518/FossilFishy/IMG_20170409_173836_zpsrzuuk0lc.jpg) I had finally found a early white bonnet for £25 gave it so elbow grease and luckily it matches the surrounding panels. Next the wheel refirb and weight reduction will start

Removing the A/C is on my list of low-cost jobs to do. Where did you get the replacement 'pipe' from?

Removing the A/C is on my list of low-cost jobs to do. Where did you get the replacement 'pipe' from? Evilbay! From a non Aircon car about £10. It's worth doing for About 15kg weight I believe.was going de power the power steering but gave up. Has been sat in the boot for months. Some people say you need a bolt where the brackets for the compressor but others say no so some rtv on the original bolt should be ok. The condenser/radiator should pop right out no need for the rad to come out. I've spent the last hour replacing the CAS o ring and the dreaded water bung

Well serviced the old girl and used 10w40 total oil and it's developed a lifter tick, not fussed I'll do another oil change. Weight saving removing the air con is hardly noticeable but turning seems better (it's all in my head I'm sure). I have done a few gaskets to the rare of the engine and am continuing flushing the radiator. Polished the head Brought this of eBay...every gram helps, it's the support bracket for the intake. Removing the baby teeth and carbon canister next.
