Given the general feeling of descent towards body additions from the 80's and 90's I wondered how people felt about the Tickford. It was rare back in the day but of all the kitted out cars, both OEM, specialist AM and AM, I think this one still stands up to give the wow factor. Never saw a red one though. That's spankingly good. and here's a build of No.1. www.tickfordcapri.co.uk/page3.htmSorry if it's been posted before. I did a g search

It's a bit of a marmite car, personally I love it I like the red one too, very nice! Any idea how many were made? It reminds me a bit on the Impreza S201, although not particularly retro it was a very quick special edition impreza (300 built) that was horrendously ugly straight from the factory.

Always liked the Tickford Capri and the Tickford styling on the MG Meastro was pretty good too IMO. Simon Saunders who designed the kit for the Capri later left Tickford and formed his own company KAT who did bodykits for loads of stuff. KAT kitted SD1

I only ever came into contact with one Tickford Capri when i was an apprentice, i had to locate a water leak that was running down from the 1/4 windows onto some rather large subwoofers that had been fitted into the rear panels, the interior was trimmed in white leather and white carpet, the owner was very particular about keeping the interior clean, so we covered everything with clean dust sheets and seat covers, the job was done at Tony Brooks the RS Ford main dealers in Byfleet near Weybridge, Tony himself came and spoke to us to make sure we understood how he did not want bad news from any damage to the car as the owner was Cliff Richard, the car was filled with high end stereo at the time i worked on it, i wonder where that car is now ?

I've always loved the look of the Tickford Capri. The rage at the time was to fit bodykits to everything. I used to love looking at them all in my Dad's Ripspeed catalouge and drawing cars with my own design of bodykit on them...ah memories. If you have any old bodykits, keep hold of them. (No matter how ugly, they will be like hens teeth in years to come and worth loads).

Although a bit iffy from a few choice angles I have a bit of a soft spot for the old Tickford Capri's...
They were the ultimate Capri in terms of luxury and if you have the turbo fitted the ultimate in performance too!!!
I think they look very of their era and all the better for it...

Loved the brooklands but allways thought the tickford was over the top (and the grill caused them to overheat), when i was a youngster of only 16 i worked at a toy warehouse and one of the owners sons had one, it was allways boiling over cos he would thrash it round the N Circ and then do 2 miles to the warehouse in slow traffic and it was allwas spewing water by the time he got to work. It was a white one and his name was Glynn dwyer and his dads was co owner of Kardwell in case the name meens anything to any white tickford owners out there LOL
