EQUIPMENT

EXTERIOR
This delightful chic Peugeot is finished in the original factory colour of Maize Yellow. It has an incredible finish and still wears its original coat. A beautiful shine graces the car making it a real show stopper. All the chrome fitted exterior parts have a mirror finish with no pitting. Two barely visible dings can be seen when pointed out, one on the bonnet and one on the off-side rear quarter panel. A few minor stone chips have been touched in with the correct colour. The original front screen has a microscopic chip. The vehicle is fitted with the correct metal pressed number plates from new and all the inner and outer panels are spotlessly clean, original and never filled or welded. The fabric top is still the original factory item so is understandably showing its age with a two inch spit on one seam. It operates seamlessly and effortlessly with the undamaged tonneau cover present. Quite possibility the best, factory fresh example currently available. A collectors dream.
INTERIOR
You will scarcely credit the internal comfort and finish of this phenomenal Peugeot’s untouched interior. The separate reclining armchair seats are finished in the Brown Teppline material with matching unmarked door cards. Only light creasing to the front seats can be seen on very close inspection. The floor is covered in clean, colour coordinated deep carpeting which is unworn. All the dash controls and switches function perfectly. The optional dealer fitted Blaupunkt radio is disconnected. The lined exceptionally spacious boot is perfect with the car jack present. A beautiful, unspoilt interior exactly how Peugeot created.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The engine bay is clean, dry and oil free with all manufacturer stickers and identification plates fitted. The 1288cc XL3 S engine was a brilliant mechanical feat of advanced technology with its overhead camshaft, aluminium cylinder head with bi-spherical chambers being fed by a twin carburettor. This is enough for 75.5bhp, which on a car weighing just 895kg, equates to swift willing progress. The short stem floor gear shift is very precise with the 4-speed gearbox positioned transversely for beautifully balanced handling. A joy in every respect.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Unmarked steel rims with original mirror finish chrome hubcaps are correct in every manner shod in period Dunlop SP radial 145/SR14 tyres. Disc brakes up front and drums at the rear which are servo-assisted and are fitted with a break load compensator offer fantastic and progressive stopping power.
HISTORY FILE
Supplied new on the 1st March 1974 by Watering Peugeot Main Dealers in Maidstone, Kent to Mrs M.S.Pettitt who remained the owner for four years. Sold to the second owner, Dr R. Trew on the 23rd July 1978 for the sum of £1800, it remained in his care up to April 2010 when the third owner, Mr Gasc took ownership. Beautifully preserved through careful storage this fabulous car is now available for a new custodian to show and marvel.
Presented with all the correct handbooks including the ‘Carte De Garantie’, (Guarantee Card), stamped with first owner details, 1972 Dealer Directory, and original Peugeot sales brochure. Spare keys, old MOT’s, original Department of Transport Vehicle Registration Document and Maintenance Handbook with service stamps.
The car has been used in a recent Stella Artois TV/cinema commercial and a couple of fashion shoots. The TV commercial earned the previous owner £600! See link here:
