To paint a Range Rover Classic.
Even though it makes economical suicide sense, I want one. LPG would be nice because it would still sound like a V8, but Diesel would do. I'm Weird.
I want to turn one into "Daddies old truck of the Apocalypse". Satin pain, and satin painted Alloys, but with tint windows, and then I would get loose on the interior and make it all my own.
Actually a tinted windowed apocalytpical flat paint monster with diesel rattle surviving urban wipeout on Chipfat has a bit of a thing going for it.

It all depends on what type of paint you'd be using and the mixing ratio. If you were to do it in a cheap synthetic or polyurethane with a low thinning ratio then you'd probably get away with 3 or 4 litres after thinning. 1 good coat should cover it if it's darkish to start with.

If you're after a "Ghetto paintjob" using rattle cans, I used about 10 500ml cans to do my Merc. I'd factor in an extra few cans due to more metal work (possibly). Fortunately my local motor factors did big tins of satin black for about £2.00. If I'd have got it from Halfrauds the job would have cost about £8.2bn ;D

I don't care how much paint or even if you roller it on That idea gets my vote!!!! Big sod off roo bars front and rear and watch the traffic steer away from you ;D

Spray the whole thing with old engine oil. Then drive through a quarry. And then a field. And then a chicken shed. And then another quarry.
And never ever clean it. THAT's your apocalyptic look right there. ;D

If that is Poggies latest motor he is impressive by fair. Looks like very faded regal red + taggin' time.
And it still hase the original plastic wheel centres. So many of them get lost. Mine had two missing so I ditched the other two and then ended up fitting steelies.

Oh and I don't know whether to get a cheap blow over, slap on the satin Smoothrite with a roller, or rattle can.
Hell, I need to find a suitably cheap, but solid one first. I couldn't see myself doing over a decent one. They are too nice. But one that has been structurally hit with the buzz box when needed by a farmer because it was the best thing for bringing the sick calves home in and so stinks like a cattle shed would do for me. If it can be stripped, steamcleaned and have it's seats swapped or recovered it would be ideal. Just needs to be able to get a test pass.

We mixed a load of coarse sand into the paint when we did my mates trials car, figured it would be easier to get a grip when pushing it in the mud. Never really got stuck enough to try it out though...

I know.....after owning a '72 RRC V8 a few yrs ago that struggled to manage 12mpg it's nothing short of a revelation. 33-35 on a run taking it steady, 27 when working hard, and still leaves my mate's Fr*ntera for dead on the motorway...with the overdrive kicked in it's ticking over at 60 :-).
Trouble is it wasn't what I was really after when I bought it and still isn't to be honest.....I wanted something I could have some fun with on a weekend and use for the odd commute, but it's so useable I've done 4000 miles in it since September. And SWMBO won't go near it because it's scruffy inside, makes too much noise and she reckons it smells of cow shnizzle.
