okay, so this was my best friends car, along with my other coupe. unfortunately in 2010 he was killed as the passenger in a car crash from someone driving like a DICK. hence why I don't drive like a tool believe it or not.
shortly after, as I was learning to drive and they needed the space, his parents offered me his other coupe. I owned it almost 2 years building it up as I went along, and I have now sold it on to make way for this one.
it has done 53000 genuine miles, is comet blue, and the interior is actually mint! body wise it needs some panel beating on the passenger rear 1/4 and the bonnet but that will be sorted in good time.
Plans -
cams? I want 150bhp eventually
Pics -
tried the front and rear lights on, pretty happy with how they look. just need the bonnet strip on.
also, the mileage
pics with my old one the day before I sold it
wow camera phones suck!
After washing the car and heatgunning the plastics!
new carb rubber fitted (runs alot better!) and eyebrow spoiler fitted (will look better I think with derby lights and when the wheels are on)
a little beading
well, FINALLY sorted the running problems!
literally changed everything! the one thing I forgot was the HT leads, and guess what was causing the problem!
also adjusted the tappets today, first time ever doing it and there so easy!!!
carb has a bit of a flat spot at low revs, any ideas?
fitted my smoked indicators and steering wheel. picking up the wheels tomorrow
loving the 1.3 life haha!
engine bay (need a descent looking filter)
WHEELSSS
Vw horn button (cant get it to work though!!??)
Slimline radiator fan fitted, looks great and much more room in the bay!
lights, camera, action!!!
I think shes looking hawtttt!!
got a new FK exhaust!
£25, and sound bloody good!
washer bottle is finally on...
could do with a longer scuttle tray really..
installed limiter.
actually running out of things to fix now.. nothing like the old one
window kit
fitted to door before I realised it was broken
looks OEM I think! also the switches light up green which is a bonus!!
car after a rinse
hydraulics innit!
I couldnt resist any longer. they were sitting in my room looking at me..
then put bike carbs on
fitted pinstripes
koni adjustable shocks
eilbach springs (could do with some paint I suppose)
right, inlet mani!!!
before you say it, I know its not a great job! but its a hell of alot better! you shoulda seen it before I started!! pics don't really show it too well either.
before:
after:
and a bit of paint to tidy it up.
didnt turn out too bad I suppose! oh, that pipe is blocking off the brake servo pipe btw
picked up this lil beauty for £2
not great but does the job!
SO, the passenger rear quater was pretty badly damaged!
you cant see so good in pics but here:
had it fixed in a friends bodyshop/
bonnet next
YEAH BOYYYY
colour match is ok. looks better than it did either way
new mirrors and silver wheels
picked a 5 speed gearbox and a NZ engine up
anywayzz, as I couldnt lift it back out of the car (hahaha) I split the engine and box in the car and was left with this
then I started to clean the box up.. got the drill out and a wire brush attatchment.. the box was proper dirty and greasy!!!
ended up with this
did the same to my 5 speed mount, and then colour coded it
then sprayed the box silver and laquered it bla bla and attatched the mount. looks sweeet!!
also I resprayed my 5 speed ARB silver to match. wish id colour coded it now though... lol
new engine. 1.6 8v
Also colour coded the badge..
engine turned out to be shagged
so instead I chucked a newer 1.3 in with hydraulic lifters to shut it up! also added a GT cam
then decided I wanted a 16v engine so made an inlet manifold
Pics of stuff!
Also coilovers.
Manifold nearing completion.
Manifold finished.
Cheers mate haha yeah I spose so! Lol
Heres some cheeky pics of the finished manifold
Gasket needs adjusting btw^
Couple random shots of test fitting the engine.
Bulkhead will have further work on it tomorrow to make it look better
Also I will start plumbing the engine in
After a bit of butchering for clearance
well!
recently sold my mattigs as I wanted something different. and a set of wheels came up at the perfect time! they are Smoor Roadsters in 13x7 and 13x8 widths.
they look great but have a little poke. I am going to put my arch trims back on I think. will need bonding on due to rolled arches though.
and a shot of the engine before I rip it apart due to burning oil....
thats all for now. eric
