Right then Peeepsssssss
I have been offered first dibs on a MK1 1600 Capri in Cream, it has been garaged and kept running by a capri lover, and is homed a few doors down from my house.
I have not been to lookat it yet but as far as i can tell its totally standard and is solid as they come. It has a fuel pump problem, which is simple to sort, besides that its all good.
The owner basically said make me an offer on it. Now I don't want to affend the guy really as he is cool, and wants to seel the car so he can go back to his motherland.
So my Question to you is what are they worth. Also does anyone have a good pics of them lowered, and looking downright sex!!!.
Sorry no pics at the moment.
Cheers
Nathan

I remember them being quite cheap but they are not now!
Price really depends on condition and motivation of the seller.
Any T&T? Is it exempt? These affect the price.
A good tidy car with no ticket still has to be worth best part of a grand, even with a pushrod motor in it.

Baz posted this nice one he'd seen in Norwich. Is it an early one like this or facelift? Most of the modified ones I've seen have been kind of old skool. Wan't there that lovely orange one at CaRS with Appliance Wiremags? Saw one this morning at a garage I went to, just a shell though. The more I think about them the more I like them. I remember lots from when I was young, but I suppose people moved onto MkII/III as soon as they could afford them and forgot about MkIs.

Damn I'd love one!, inspect the rust and see what you reckon, i'd easily give £500+++ if i got one that was not rotted so much.
go for it see what he says.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Price wise it could be worth up to a grand if not more as it stands... I sold a facelift non-tax exempt 1600GT with no sills and non runner for £750 at the end of last Novemeber.
So pay as much as you're comfortable with and take it from there. Be well aware of the rot though, they can hide it well... Forget anything mechanical as it's all very straightforward. It really comes down to the trim and bodywork condition.
Oh, and I demand pictures even if you don't get it... This sounds gorgeous. Cream you say? If it were mine, slammed over a set of Lotus steels, and some nice chrome detailing. The Capri isn't a quick or particularly sporty car as standard, so keep it low and simple and you'll never lose...

Sills, wings, inner wings, A-posts, bulkhead, floorpans, strut tops, front and rear chassis legs......the end is listless!!
Nice cars though, especially the Mk1 IMO.

Like Brian says, all of that plus lower front valance (the bit under the bumper) and if the rear arches/quarters have been done (which is more than likely) check for filler and look inside the boot at the inner arches to see how good the welding is. On the inside, dash and seat tops are usually cracked or sunworn. It's always nice if the dash hasn't been cut, although these are easier to source and replace than the first two. Just check everything... And if you don't want it, stick it up here, because I need another one now!
