useful link speedman! Although I think obscurity should be important here....what cool cars are in odd films we should go out and get? although vanishing point isnt that obscure, it's pretty cool: wtf is that in deathrace braindamaged? looks a bit like a stingray? RoB

RoB I really haven't a clue....it LOOKS like a 'Vette, although it's not a film that gets aired on TV these days (not too politically-correct to see disabled people run over for extra points...I kid you not) when it was released in the mid-70's it was a massive movie and was made on a fair-sized budget.

It was a quality film, with pisspoor acting and plot but very enjoyable. I saw it as a bairn before I think it was banned for awhile (not sure on that). Then I downloaded it a year or two back much worse than I remember but still a laugh.

The Driver, Vanishing Point, Mad Max, Cold Sweat, Borderline, Mr Majestyk! Loads of cheesy old Bronson films have great chases in them.
Also recommend a film called Winning starring Paul Newman, it's superb!

The cars in Deathrace 2000 are reworked VW Karman Ghias.
I heard a rumour its going to be remade.
Everything will get remade.
Now are we talking about "great car movies" or "movies with great cars in them"?
And how long do the cars have to be in them for? a 2 hour film with a cool car in it for 27 seconds isn't a cool car movie...
When Hot Rod was originally released it had another title as theres a 1950 movie called Hot Rod. I have both on DVD.
There were about a zillion hot rod movies made int he 1950s and early 1960s. Some great and some suck muchly. But I love 'em all...
Don't forget some groovy hot rodding action in Grease!
Theres cool old Cadillacs in Pink Flamingos but its not really a car movie either.
Theres a delightful Plymouth Roadrunner in Tarantino's Destiny Turns on The Radio. One of his better and least well known films IMO. It gets quite a solilogy too.
Driver is great but I still wince when he destroys that Merc.
What about Viva Las Vegas - its got Elvis and hot cars too!
Or the Herbie movies. Herbie goes to Monte Carlo is cool car city and IIRC its The Love Bug which features a fair bit of early 60s NASCAR footage.
Who hasn't mentioned Italian Job yet?
Or Genevive? LOL.
A great one IMO is Faster Pussycat Kill Kill. ALmsot a car movie, some great (if corny) action too.
And SHe Devils on WHeels (bikers)
Or Chopper Chicks in Zombie Town? Pure trashj, biker chicks vs the zombies. Love that movie.

i was going for "movies with great cars in", even if its just for a moment! doesnt need to be a car movie, just a cheeky spot wil! do!
Chopper Chicks in Zombie Town sounds like an awesome premise for a movie...how could it possibly be bad! ;D

my personal fave! What cars are these? heres the vid too if you are interested! in the film the black interceptor was an XC falcon, the yellow pursuits were XA or XB falcons. those images are from the "puretone - addicted to base" video, not too sure what the black car used in that was exactly, possibly an XC without the nosecone? don't remember and its hard to see in that pic.
