Its alright saying £25 a wheel etc, but thats just for blasting and painting, this guys going to make sure your wheels bang on for £60 a wheel, so its going to look new. I know how long it takes to do a refurb properly and its a fair price tbh. If you pay £25 per wheel, it would need to be bang on before you took it to them otherwise the finish is never going to be spot on. Horses for courses, I spose. If you just want it to look fresh then you're gonna be happy with £25 per wheel jobs, if you want them to look minty fresh, then you're not. Not true, as per my post, place I use at £20 per wheel repairs any damage prior to coating.

I have a set of old Tarantula's knocking around that have had a really hard life, so much so that 2 of the rims look unable to be repaired cost effectively. This is a set of before pictures from the rim that is currently being refurbished front face of the rim, and some spoke faces, (as you can see has had better days) with, I would say heavy curbing around the entire outer edge.. and a poor paint job. A close up of the curb damage, as you can see this is quite heavy, reminds me of what your child can do when they find the grinder lol Not that this picture is relevant but its the bit you never see (unless something went horribly wrong haha) so on that note we will see what I can bring to the table once this rim is finished, all I will say is it's going to be special and may hurt your eyes ;D More pics to follow very shortly

I think £60 is very reasonable for a good refurb, I've paid much more than that for average jobs in the past. Be interesting to see the "after" pics

Apologies for the delay with the finished rim, We can all thank my local council for having swimming pool sized potholes round here. I hit one and sheared the rear wishbone bush and mangled the tyre + scuffed 4 of my superturismo gt spokes So aside the disaster of being grounded for 4 days and the council admitting no liability for heavy damage to my car the wheel should be finished early next week with pictures shortly after!

Completed the sample rim today ready to show you all. As you'll remember from further up the post, this was a damaged wheel in need of refurbishment. The curbing to the rim, scuffs on the spokes and the terrible paint job have all been repaired and removed. I chose a fresh new green for the wheel to bring it bang up to date, topped off with a special flip flake powder coat. Difficult to highlight with the camera is the changing colour of the flake which shows up as purple, blue, red and green in addition to the gold in the pictures. One of those things where it's much more startling in person than on camera. The line visible on the rim here is from the wire used to both hang and charge the wheel during the powder coating process. The burning question you'll all want an answer to is the cost of all this. This rim is a bit special, it's a custom finish and required remedial work that most rims don't. For that reason, it would cost £70 with a 10-14 day turn around. If you've got any more questions, fire away and I'll give you some answers.

Hellow Saxoman, glad to see your giving it a go. The wheels look good, Had an idea perhaps you should advertise on some bike sites, bikers all ways want bits painting or coating. I too can get wheels powder (£20)coated but I have to prep myself so £60 per wheel don't seem that bad to me. Anybody in the black country super custom 1 can blast stuff for competitive rates.

Nice work there and good attention to detail in the wire hanging as often alloys are hung through the valvehole and that causes issues with screening and powder buildup . One detail that would reflect the care that has been shown to the refurb would be to recut the wheel fixing seat and shield them from the coating as this is often an area of concern with wheels coming loose

With any luck I will be attending the Sheffield gathering in January with my bro volksangyl , I will be bringing the test rim along for folks to see if they want to have a nosey. This rim really does look better in person than in the pictures

I paid £40/wheel back in 2008 for 4 wheels to be stripped, repaired and powder-coated satin black, no diamond cutting. Around here that was a competitive price. They also fitted my new tyres and put new valves in and balanced all 4. Wheels still look perfect today.

Next question (elephant in the room style) Split rims. What can you do for them? My outer rim on the rear wheel above has a fairly significant ding in it (just about visible if you look close). Can you repair this? Can you split and paint the centre? I have another wheel from this set with fairly significant ovality, can you straighten it?

..another question:
Are you able to polish wheels too? I've got some rims that I want refurbishing with the centres painted and the lips polished. If this is a possibility, let me know and I'll PM you with details and pictures so you can price it up for me.
Thanks.

I use a powdercoating company in Keighley, and pay £1 per inch of the wheel size So yeah, you got 15" wheels, and £60 gets you a full refurb. Beat that.
