A friend of mine does blasting and cleaned up some wheels for the dude in the unit next door. They sent the first one off to paint as he was doing one at a time as the car's being used daily and the painters asked if it had been degassed? Apparently, so I'm told like, they need to be baked to remove the air put in whilst blasting before they can be painted. Otherwise it all comes out under the paint whilst they bake in the oven! Is this the whole truth or just pure testicles

Thats a ridiculous amount of money tbf, bearing in mind that I pay a pound an inch for black & white, £1.50 an inch for metallic and £2.50 per inch for special finishes.
ie 15" wheels - £60 a set white or black £90 a set in metallic £150 a set special finish.

I don't mean to be rude but i can still see all the marks where the wheels were corroded under the paint/powder coat (presuming paint). My £60 per rim is if they need repairs rather than just a straight recon, i.e strip the paint etc and straight power coat. If there is no damage to repair then the price will be less. but maybe I should have been less of a retard and mentioned this to start with! Basic price to recon (no damage to rim) then that would be £45 per rim to as close to new as you can get. Special coatings are more cost obviously, just thought i would clarify as I was a numpty with the post lol those wheels are awesome though

stealthstylz are you coating the wheels and blasting them yourself as you would be hard pushed to find anyone with quality work to do them at that price unless they are doing the rims for themself/friends

No its a company that I'm not involved with. A good mate of mine has his own company doing similar and even at mates rates he isn't as cheap. The price doesn't include any tidying of the bare wheel afaik, I always straighten mine myself before I take them anywhere.

£25 per rim regardless of size around here, shot blast & powder coat (choice of colour). I had a set done four years ago & still looking great. I was dubious at the price, but they've lasted really well.

Its alright saying £25 a wheel etc, but thats just for blasting and painting, this guys going to make sure your wheels bang on for £60 a wheel, so its going to look new.
I know how long it takes to do a refurb properly and its a fair price tbh.
If you pay £25 per wheel, it would need to be bang on before you took it to them otherwise the finish is never going to be spot on.
Horses for courses, I spose. If you just want it to look fresh then you're gonna be happy with £25 per wheel jobs, if you want them to look minty fresh, then you're not.

I paid £50 a rim +vat, i.e. £60, for my wheel refurb at WRC Preston. one wheel was wheelish, the other three were corroded and a bit battered, all four had a many layers of paint. I think they came back the nuts.

The finish on that p6 rim is great, that's exactly what I'm offering for £60 per rim. I can offer blast and coat with no recon of the wheel but it will always show as just that when finished. I didn't want my business to go that way though. Thanks for posting that pic :-)
