I sold my caddy and decided I wanted to buy something non VAG, until I can find a perfect mk1 golf. I always liked Hillman Imps and bought this from a friend. It is a 1967 Super Imp, with a not so super 875cc engine. It has only covered 22000 miles as it was stored in a barn for about 30 years of its life that unfortunately started to fall down on it causing some dents on the roof. It has been resprayed but the body and paint is very far from show worthy. Plans are to pull the engine out, replace the slipping clutch, original carb, and worn electrics to try to get it running perfect and release a bit more power. Once this is done it will be getting lowered, and I hope to be able to use it regularly. Some pictures of the Imp and one of my old caddy.

Your imp looks pretty smart mate. It looks as though it might have already been lowered an inch, or maybe just tired springs.

Thanks mate, I did think that myself but never really looked at a standard one to compare it. I have some GAZ coilovers coming for it so will hopefully get it sitting lower and improve the handling as atm it has a huge amount of body roll.

She's lowered alright. Quite a bit. Re body roll, lowering it much more won't really help. It's most likely down to the tyres, pressure and height of the sidewalls being the biggest contributors. You really need to run the rears with 35 or more psi.

Thanks lads, really nice car remmoc.
Was happy with how the engine came out. I put a new clutch in it, fitted twin carbs, and new ignition parts today. Got it back in and it started straight away but can't get cylinder one to fire correctly. It seems to be causing a really bad misfire. Checked the plug, leads, points and compression tested it, really struggling to work out what the problem is.

If its one cylinder it could be an air leak at the inlet manifold gasket around that cylinder , did you fit a new gasket
