Having moaned earlier in the week about not being able to get into the garage I planned in a whole day today. Which I got. However I didn't get the axle changed because the bushes from Pop Browns (that I was assured were the right ones) don't fit. Not even close. So I'm a bit irritated about that I got the broken window mechanism fixed and fitted back in - good. Then I thought I would finish the day with a nice easy track rod end swap for that one that I was having trouble finding which I found at great expense on eBay. Well the damn thing is assembled upside down so it's no use and I'll have to send it back. So that's two lots of damn postage I've got to cover sending incorrect parts back. Damnit why can't these 'specialists' check their information before they palm off their wares onto poor mugs like me. Edit - Forgot this:

Did you lose your temper and smash anything to pieces? I find it always helps.

after you've switched the hob off there dude and realised what a bad idea that might be ^^ lol... get back on to them and demand they set that stuff all right, cut postage LOTS or for free, and refund one payment asap or else its solicitors letter time, and get the cops informed (even though its a 'civil' issue)

So called specialists really irritate me . There doesnt seem to be any pride in peoples work anymore ....The tyre that I ordered and paid extra for next day deliv turned up 2 days later ,and I had a job to get my 'next day 'delivery money refunded . ...........The escy clutch I bought from a local accesory shop ,that when I came to fit it 2 weeks later ,was really a capri one ...they admited it was their fault but their supplier refused to change it as I hadnt checked it after purchase ,cost me 14 quid to send it back to them !............A certain car wiring specialist supplier ,who advertises "free advice" but wont let you order anything unless you have the part number from their online catalogue....the list goes on and on !!!(excuse rant!!!)

Any company that dicks you about, just send them some weird and unpleasant objects in the post. When I was an advertising agent a couple of years ago I got really messed around by a "potential client" and they reported me to my boss for swearing when I said "thanks for p*ssing me about" .
So I sent the person responsible a large envelope containing a deflated balloon, 2 crushed paper cones from a water cooler, a twix wrapper and the contents of my car ashtray. I also spat all over everything before sealing the envelope. F*ck `em.

these so called specialists can be a right pain in the . they seem to think that because they are specilaists you have to use them-wrong i suufered at the hands of one, paid a large sum of money to basically recommision my car,a little welding ,some new bits and to made it ROADWORTHY and to mot it. so i went to pick up my little beastie only to find that it wouldnt run for more than 30-40 secs and stuttered badly on full throttle, after curse word around in the rain for nearly an hour he gave up,so there was me 30+ miles from home,my lift there had carried on thier journey so i was stuck,so i asked for a lift to the train or bus station,no bother he says i'll give you a lift home.and he did.fine. until the bill for rebuilding and setting up the carbs came in including £15.00 for fuel.when i questioned it i was told it was for the lift home !!!! wtf.the carbs shouldnt have needed rebuilding as me and skodastop had done them some weeks before, new needles, diaphragms and gaskets,so i wont be using him again for sure.

I promise I'll lose my temper next time and post it up on YouTube.

All my bad experiences with suppliers etc have left me very cautious .When I do get to talk to a genuinely good one ,I feel patronised ! I must say ,in their defence ,that there are some very knowledgable ,helpful suppliers out there .

Totally agree, it just irritates me when I'm told it's the right part when it's clearly not.

Could be a simple mistake, adn we all make them. Pop Browns is usually fine.
I was desprate for a wheel bearing for a Cortina and my usual factor hadn't got them in, but could special order them but I'd had bad experiances with "special order" int he factor before - this is where you wait a week and then get some random part of some random car and they won't tkake it back because it was a special order.
So I ordered from a certain classic Ford specialist, next day delivery and I'd be sorted. Came to £32. For a front frikkin wheel bearing. And guess what - it wasn't even close to the right size. Probably Transit? No idea. No, they wouldn't take them back either. In the end I dashed up to another local factor who had them on the shelf for £5 +VAT.
Nuts.
This same "specialist" has a bit of a reputation it turns out for charging top price for the wrong parts then not taking them back. How do these people stay in business? Scene can't be THAT big to allow it can it?
Some other places, well, they started out as people doing it as a sideline and the retro car thing has grown now so fast and I think a lot of them just got caught out with the additional demand.

People make mistakes and sadly you can't watch over staff 100% of the time and stop it happening.
I once couldn't giver Burton Power my money. Their old only payment system reported an error to them and not me and they didn't bother to pass the message one. So a while later I email asking where my order is and some guy says the number was rejected and I'd have to go through the order process again. I replies saying I could just give him the correct number but didn't want to go through the order process as it was a real pain to use. I didn't get a reply and decided to give up. Was a big order too.

Ha ha, you should order up some stuff from Euro car parts. Here's how you do it.
1) go in the store and buy your bits. 2) come out the store with them, then go straight back in again. 3) complain that none of them fit. 4) the store man will faff about for a bit then give you a totally different load of bits. 5) take the SECOND load of bits home and fit them to your car.
This saves coming home with the first (invariably incorrectly supplied) load of bits.

I'd go straight from point 1 to 5. then have to get a lift back to do 2,3 and 4.

Roight, an update. Looks like I have earlier 1949 steering joints and links on mine when the car is a 1954 so I have to get the parts swapped over. Damn pain and more expense but at least it will go round bends.
Pop Browns are refunding the bushes with no quibbles, just got to wait to get the new ones turned up by a mate now.
Maybe one day this car will hit the road...
