A wonderful, very rare Barkas B-1000 minibus with one UK owner and just 29,322km
EQUIPMENT
Side compartment door, wide opening rear luggage door, opening rear quarter windows, front driving lights, roof mounted air hatch, six individual rear seats, rear compartment heater, rear cooling fan, flowmeter, temperature gauge, fuel gauge, driver fan, fuel reserve tap, interior light, ashtray, first aid kit, fire extinguisher.
EXTERIOR
This delightful Barkas minibus creates much interest finished in a striking bright green and retains an excellent shiny appearance. All the panels are the original thick steel items with excellent gaps and a perfect fit. There are no dents or scuffs. The top of the rear quarter panels have some minor paint blisters and the driver foot well has historic corrosion along with the passenger front wheel arch, none of which is structural. All the trim items remain intact and correct. An amazing survivor with massive presence.
INTERIOR
This spacious Barkas minibus has ample room for eight occupants and their entire luggage! It is immensely comfortable and offers fantastic visibility for all its passengers. All the seats are covered in the original fragile brown material with wear to one front seat and a small hole in one rear seat, the rest remain in good condition. The headlining and door cards are damage free and the rear seating area still retains all its original flooring. A separately controlled fuelled heating system for the rear works but has not been safety tested. A very quirky, fun and unique vehicle.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
This two-stroke engine is a three cylinder 992cc which produces 45bhp. Amazingly it pops along nicely with a top speed of 100km/h (60mph) and is brilliant fun. Runs very well and with simple mechanics and great club support, makes ownership simple. The 4-speed fully synchronised manual gearbox has widely spaced ratios but once familiar is simple in operation.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Recently refurbished steel wheels are shod in brand new Federal Ecovan tyres suitable for fully laden weights. The brakes are adequate but require firm pressure in line with braking technology fitted.

This fascinating little bus belonged to a collector in Scotland who imported the vehicle in 1999 having searched for a long time for a sound example. Kept in care since its arrival in the UK it has enjoyed many outings. Original foreign registration documents and interesting letters from the previous owner to the Scottish collector on tips and advice are included in the history file. Some photos of outings and even a brochure are included. A really charming, different and fun vehicle.
Taxed and MOT until August 2013. HPI Clear. All spare keys present.
