Replacing the thermostat on the Sunny (N13 1.4 carb) on a sunny Sunday, and I cracked the housing, or at least made a hairline crack worse. It split at the bolt area. I used some QuikSteel to patch it back up again and it did the job, but not driving it anywhere until I get a new housing. Are these available from motor factors, or is it a Nissan job?

I rebuilt the thermostat housing on a Fiesta out of chemical metal after someone had broken off a piece by prying the hose off. It never caused any issues at all. Worth firing some PMs to Datman and KFW to see if they have anything in stock?

Will do that! To be honest the chemical metal is good stuff, I'd rather test it long term before driving down to work.

erm, we made the 'replacement' stat elbow for that POS golf at area 52 from a length of exhaust pipe and some steel plate!
worth a PM to will (datman) - but I doubt nisan will be any use - they wanted 40 odd wquid for a gennie CV boot for my sunny wagon, and it was unavailable
