Ever since I was about 7-8, and watching Knight Rider I have always had this secret dream to own something with pop up headlights... Been looking into Mk1 MR2's, and Mazda RX7's (Sorta 84ish ones) but what else is there? Looked into Supra's but not sure about insuring one, ideally I would like something RWD too, beacuse I'm getting bored of FWD Thanks

I'd love a Supra MK3 but the UK-spec ones have nearly all been run into the ground, rusty old heaps with 150K+ and autoboxes. What about a Subaru XT? If you're willing to wait for one to turn up....!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Not sure on your price range but what about Mazda MX5's? - RWD, great handling, and available from £1500, although a lot more choice and better cars at around £2-2500.
I'd try and buy one around this time of year though, rather than in three months time as the seasons affect the prices by about 10-20%.

Trans Am?
Seriously. They ain't that expensive right now and they are sure to appreciate in value. They start with a small V6 and work up to a 305 or 350 V8 in those Gen 3 cars. There are more Camaros about than the Firebirds but they can be found at sensible money. Clasic insurance means they are affordable to insure now. MPG ain't as bad as you might thing, especially on a mid sized V6.
