Spotted one in my local, 1800 Formel E, 1989, 75k from new, 2 owners, very very tidy, but short MOT (as in end of the month) for £250.
If I decide to go look at it is there anything I should look for?? ;D
Multitudinous thanks in advance......

Asking *way* too much money for it..... I reckon you'd pick up a Jetta GTI for not much more than that, complete with a decent length of MOT.

theres no car in the world except really nice ones that are worth more than £100 without mot in my eyes. put in a £150 offer and leave it, ring back when nobody else buys it with that short a ministry of transport.

Theres nothing more worthless than an old car with no test for the majority of people, the Jetta sounds in theory like a nice thing but sooner or later the pillock will realise it needs an MOT in order to appeal and he`ll either stand the test and put it up for £400-450 with full ticket or he`ll let it go for £50 in a few weeks when it does actually run out.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

I know this contradicts what I said earlier, but I did once buy an F-reg Jetta 1.8 with no test for £125, and it needed a tyre and that was it. It is possible to buy shagged cars with a full ticket as well, a howling gearbox, slipping clutch and mystery ignition problem that means it takes 10 minutes to start on a morning and conks out when pulling in front of wagons and no-one can trace it are just 3 things that the MOT would not pick up on.
Let the guy sweat for a bit, no-one will buy it at that price and in a fortnight have a proper look at it and if it seems ok bid him a oner. Check the thing for smoke though, those 1.8s arent unknown for being a Smokey Joe.

^^The Jetta's a bit bigger than I was looking for....a Saph would be bigger still! Just wondered if it would be worth wasting a friday afternoon on, that's all....plus I've never had a Jetta....
Need small daily to run round in for a few months while I do the work on the RR....200m a week means I'm not lavishing it with the loving care it deserves.
It's either that or sell the Rangie and buy something REALLY stupid..... :-)
Just noticed this is my 666th post.....so [glow=red,2,300]MUUUUUUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA[/glow] ;D
