Do any of these actually still exist in the UK? I havent been able to find one for sale on any of the usual channels in over 4 years.
This isn`t just idle curiosity, I wouldnt mind getting hold of one but it seems you can`t.

I`m surprised he hasnt got one stashed away somewhere, I was kind of hoping he did, to be honest.
Come on, someone give me a lead on one, no matter how obscure, I`ve nowhere else to turn and I`m fed up of the only matches on ebay being brochures or a rear light cluster in Spain.

I love these ;D 180 / 2litre porn! Wasn't it Mr balls who enquired about a rusty one off ebay in jersey, and it'd cost a fortune to get it over here?

They turn up from time to time on French eBay, I have seen them on UK bay too at the rate of 1 per year on average.

I had one of these floating around years ago, in my banger racing youth... Before I had it, I think it had done the rounds at the local car auctions where I was living then, in Horley.... The front chassis rails and valance had rotted out completely, which I guess explains their non-existance now - they've all oxidised I was going to banger it, but the dizzy was right up front, and I did have plans to bodge up a motorcyle ignition so it was dizzy-less. However, like many of my strange plans it never came to fruition. I can't actually remember what happened to it in the end - it was sat in the garden of the place I was living for ages, then I must've got rid of it somehow... (I don't recall it being bangered - it probably would've lasted 5 minutes before it fell apart anyway ) It was also everone's favourite colour - dark brown...

I very nearly bought one with about 30K on it about 5 years ago, would have been perfect for crusing around in/going long distances to mates/festivals etc.....shame they're all gone, they were/are a lot better than everyone thinks.

A mate's grandparents have one. Its in that faded orange colour. I forget if its a 180 or 2 litre. I have tried to buy it on a couple of occasions but he doesn't pass the messages on or something. Its not been used in years and is sitting in the garage of their house. Lat I heard of it was 2 years ago. It had ben in storage 5 - 7 years by then. I think my mate thought I was joking. It was one of those things where 180s came up in conversation, he mentioned the car, I said "I'd love to buy that" and he thought I was joking...

There is a Centura (Australian market model) in the British Road Transport Museum in Coventry. Not sure if its a 4 or 6 cylinder model though as when I was there some of the cars were all bunched up prior to the recent redesign of the place. The Centura had a slightly different front with more of a pronounced 'snout'. www.valiant.org/centura.htmlIIRC they were designed in the UK to be a Humber, and there were plans for a new V6 engine before the money ran out. Very few 180/2 litres in the UK. There was a red one from Jersey on Ebay a few months ago, described by the owner as 'very rusty' underneath. Several autoshite members were still keen though....

Alistairk, I know it would be hard to do it without seeming a fruitcake to your mate, but you really ought to make some serious enquiries about that, if you get it and don't want it for yourself and it comes to me for the right money there`ll be a wage in it for you...On the other hand if you do want it at least it`ll be on here and it`ll only be a matter of time before you get bored of it!

Centura looks good, even less chance of getting one of those unless Coventry museums a bit skint!

One of the problems is that the chap is not into moddified cars. He is suspicioius of my intentions towards it. As it was his Grandfathers from new its sentimental and I suspect he would rather see it slowly rot away in a garage then ripping up the high street on slot mags with a 318 in it. So that might be why there is nothing much happening on it after my enquiry. TBH it s awhile since I saw him, I'll go track him down for a catch up soon anyway and mention the car again then.

Just tell him you know a guy from a museum who wants it, or something. Then when its yours you can do what you want with it, including sell it to me, perhaps.
These sentimental cars are all well and good but they need to be used, I doubt his grandad would want it to rot away.

I remember going to Spain as a youngster and almost all of the taxis were either Mercedes or Chrysler 180's, I think this was due to the diesel option and (by then) low prices. A oddity, but then the whole Chrysler Europe saga was pretty strange anyway ! Sold for one dollar to Peugeot ! Wasnt the eventual 'replacement' for the 180 the Talbot Tagora ? Oops ... I mentioned Tagora's ... DarrenW ? Where are you !
;D
