Hi peoples. I'm Paul from Dunedin New Zealand. SnoozinEuro told me to come on here so I thought I may as well sign up to another forum Cant say my ride is particularly retro but the interest is there. Ive got a 92 Del sol Havnt had much of a look around yet but Ive always been more into classics than modern cars so seems like my sort of place

Cheers for the welcome, pretty fast replies Yeah the motor is still a B16A, pretyy standard. 170hp 0 ftlb torque Ive grown up with older cars, My first car was a 1275GT mini that I fitted with twin SU's, hotter cam etc My parents have always been into MGs. Dads had lots including a 1933 swept wing J2, a couple of TF's and a factory BGTV8. Ive always wanted a midget but its not too practical as an only car. In a month I finish my finance degree and will be moving to Christchurch. If the interview I had today is successful I may even end up flatting with SnoozinEuro.

I've said it before, what makes us all alike isn't what age our cars are, it's a state of mind. Besides, I've always liked those things, very new age Healey Sprite if you know what I mean, small, light sporty and yet you can use it every day.

Hi Paul - welcome aboard...... wehey another modern Honda owner! I'm not really into the modern modified car scene but the bodykit on your Del-Sol looks really sweet.
I know what you mean by '0lb ft torque'! ;D

Hi, welcome along! What's the retro car scene like in NZ? I bet you have some really cool roads to drive!!!

Standard older cars are alive and well. Mostly through one marque car clubs.
Classic racing is also pretty big, both in single seater esque classes and Pre-65s
Tastefully modified older cars are abit lacking. Its mainly young guys in KE corollas, datsuns, rotaries etc. They do tend to get a bad rap because of the public perception of the drivers, ie. someone about 15 with pants around their knees and a baseball cap backwards yelling abuse out of a $500 car with cut springs and a huge exhaust tip. Obviously its not all like that but there is a very vocal minority spoling it for everyone else.
As far as taking respected classics and hotting them up its not something thats very talked about at all, most people in the classic car scene would much prefer a dodgy handling original car on crossplies rathern than a car with handling to match its sporting pretensions
We definately do have the roads for it though. You don't have to go too far off the main roads to find some nice windy deserted sealed roads.
