EQUIPMENT
Anti-roll bar and twin radius arms, polyurethane front end incorporating four Cibie quartz halogen headlamps, front air dam, rear spoiler, hazard warning flashers, heated rear window, laminated windscreen, rear fog lamp, passenger’s sun visor, glove box, facia mounted clock and glove pocket, separate fuel, water temperature and oil pressure gauges, two rear ashtrays. Options fitted: RS 6”X13” alloy wheels, rear seat belts, remote control driver’s door mirror, Recaro front seats with head restraints.
EXTERIOR
The exterior of this RS2000 is fantastic. Finished in Black, (available only on the RS2000), this RS is a real head turner. It has a deep gloss shine and paperwork included in the comprehensive history file breaks down that in 1995 the vehicle was treated to a repaint and some welding repairs. Now showing a few signs of aging such as tiny blisters on the top of the driver’s wing and minor paint flake on the boot slam panel. The ‘droop-snoot’ incorporating the chin spoiler gives this car a 16 per cent better drag coefficient and 25 per cent less front end lift than conventional Escorts! It has no stone chips. All the trim is good, window rubbers are black and all decals are correct and present. The clear glass is mark free. A beautiful, usable RS2000.
INTERIOR
The interior of this RS2000 is pure Rallye Sport. Twin reclining Recaro front seats with see through head restraints are finished in the Black Beta Plus Fabric Trim, unique to this model and are supportive with no bolster wear. The Parchment headlining is tight and all the gauges, including the fascia mounted clock, operate as does the two speed heater fan! Incredibly, the dash is not cracked and is perfect but the door cards have a few minor marks. The radio has been replaced with a modern unit and a period map reading light is still fitted. A clean, functional RS interior.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The stock 1993cc OHC with 4-branch exhaust manifold performs faultlessly producing 110bhp. It revs cleanly and pulls strongly with masses of invoices showing regular care. The fuel pump is slightly noisy. The engine bay is extremely clean with the correct identification badges still intact on the front slam panel. A standard four-speed gearbox fitted with quick shift is precise and tight with a new clutch kit having been fitted at 76,100 miles.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
This stunning RS2000 is fitted with immaculate RS alloy road wheels which are 6”X13” and highly polished. These replaced the Base steel road wheels of which one is a spare. New 175/70 R13 tyres have just been fitted. Vacuum servo assisted bring the car quickly and safely to a halt.
HISTORY FILE
Supplied new by Ford Main Dealers, Alexanders of Edinburgh Ltd on the 15th October 1979 to a Mr John Grant who remained the careful owner for 19 years and approximately 73,000 miles. He kept all invoices and receipts and the vehicle has since been owned by six RS enthusiasts all of which have added to the history file. Very recent expenditure at 78,295 miles includes a cam-belt change and a new steering rack. The last owner, a fanatical RS collector, now forced to downsize his collection means this very presentable and usable RS2000 is available to a lucky individual having covered just 78,931 miles.
One key fits all locks and ignition. Service book remains with the car and it is HPI clear.
