Little bit more of an update. Had a few bits arrive in the post ( and still waiting on a few more ) So started with the rear panel, quick rub down and prime Then a nice coat of satin black ( badges will be getting some special attention later ) Then set about starting to paint the wing I have in the garage, first coat came out more gloss than satin ?!? so spent about 10 mins shaking and stirring the tin before adding a second coat this morning and already it looks much more like I was expecting so shall put a pic up later when its dry. Then its a case of waiting for some dry weather so I can get on with painting the rest of the car Also bought these yesterday which along with my cabin brace should tighten things up a little

Well being as the lovely english weather stopped me from doing any painting this weekend I decided to trim the door cards in some suitable camo to match the exterior theme. The Tan tops will be going to Fox along with the dash pad as soon as I get the spare pennies again so that they can be flocked. Also had the strut braces arrive today so going to pop out and fit the front upper at lunch

And braved the snow at lunch to put the cards in and fit the front upper brace Also ordered myself a cover from Moss which means that even with it raining I can take the hardtop off and bring it into the garage for paint Take that british weather, you wont stop me! Still have a load of the camo material left so may use the old gaiters to make a pattern and make them out of camo and trim a few other little bits up too

Cheers, you mean as in changing the soft top? Its not too tricky just need to take some care. Theres a bit of a guide here: www.mx5nutz.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=70096&hl=%2Bchanging+%2BroofWould say you want to allow a few hours to do it so you can take your time. I got my old roof off in no time as it was scrap anyway so didnt need to be careful.

Well, after a chat with the paint people they are adamant its the right paint so I rigged up an old cordless drill to a whisk through the paint till lid and let it shick the paint for about 10 mins Its a bit better but still not 100% satin but I like it and I guess it will be unique! Still got the bumpers and rear quarters to go as I need to take to roof off for that but have just done this in my lunch break so I'm quite happy so far. Going to leave repainting the roof till the end to make sure I have enough paint left as if not it will probably just go black.

Well started work a bit late this morning so was out at the crack of dawn to prep and paint the last bits. Have more than enough paint left to give the roof another coat too And with shiny painty stuff ;-) (the eagle eyed will see that the front drivers wing hasnt been painted. This is because its dented and I have a replacement wing ready painted in the garage to fit ) Just need to let it dry today then I can put all the lights back in tonight. Happy days!
